MPandC Launches Project to Protect Bees with Eco Hive CSR Initiative

Protecting Bees Through Eco Hive Initiative

In a significant step toward environmental stewardship, MPandC, a comprehensive sports business management company of the Sega Sammy Group based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has launched a new CSR initiative titled "My Hive" in collaboration with Un-Wall, headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa. This program aims to foster natural cycles while contributing to a nature-positive future, marking MPandC's 10th anniversary with a commitment to ecological sustainability.

On a clear day in July, beehives were installed in Odawara, much to the delight of the busy bees that have now taken to their new environment. Initially hesitant, the bees have acclimated well, buzzing energetically around their new home. With summer in full swing, the beekeeping site is already moving forward in preparation for the upcoming season.

With the mission of "bringing smiles through the ultimate entertainment, SPORTS," MPandC has long been engaged in activities that enhance children’s futures through sports, as well as striving for a sustainable society filled with health and happiness. The "My Hive" project broadens this vision by deepening connections with nature and raising environmental awareness.

In recent years, the Ministry of the Environment in Japan has advocated for the concept of "nature-positive" initiatives, urging businesses not only to refrain from harming nature but also to take actions that contribute to its restoration. Within this context, MPandC has re-evaluated its relationship with nature and has embraced the "My Hive" program as a way to connect further with the environment.

Bees play an indispensable role in our lives and ecosystems as vital pollinators. Their activities—facilitating the blooming of plants and crops, nourishing animals, and enhancing the richness of forest and marine ecosystems—quietly support the foundations of human existence. Notably, more than three-quarters of the world’s major crops depend on pollinators like bees, underscoring their critical importance for food security and local abundance.

Moreover, bees are an integral part of our everyday experiences, from enjoying cherry blossoms during spring outings to savoring the seasonal richness of nature in Japan. The simple pleasures of a warm cup of coffee or a freshly baked bread all bear the silent influence of bees. Maintaining this symbiotic relationship with nature is crucial for future generations.

Honey, a natural gift from bees, is also highly compatible with athletes. The glucose and fructose in honey are rapidly absorbed by the body and serve as effective energy sources. It is an excellent dietary option for athletes, necessary both during and after workouts for replenishing glycogen stores—a connection that makes this initiative even more meaningful for MPandC, as it symbolizes the bond between nature and sports.

With this conviction, MPandC has successfully installed beehives atop a hill in Odawara, where the bees are thriving. The small but vital efforts of these bees are hoped to connect to the richness of the local ecosystem and community, as MPandC steadily nurtures this initiative.

In its essence, Un-Wall's “My Hive” Eco Hive CSR Model integrates nature into daily life via beekeeping, fostering dialogue around corporate social responsibility. Un-Wall, through its domestic honey brand "Sonoma Honey," is committed to supporting the local beekeeping industry and promoting sustainable beekeeping practices, connecting environmental cycles with corporate activity.

Through this initiative, MPandC aims not only to stimulate positive cycles within the company and the community but also to remind everyone to appreciate and nurture the natural gifts that support our daily lives. Committed to contributing to a sustainable society, MPandC will continue fostering connections between sports and nature for a brighter future.
