Significant Construction Progress at Newton's New Countryside Elementary School Completed

Major Milestone Reached at Newton Countryside Elementary School

CTA Construction Managers has celebrated a significant achievement by completing the external enclosure of the new Countryside Elementary School in Newton, Massachusetts. This milestone, completed on September 16, 2026, is a pivotal step towards the opening of the school, which is projected to welcome students in January 2027.

The new education facility, with an estimated budget of $76 million, is part of Newton's initiative to improve and modernize its school infrastructure. Funded in part by a generous $20 million grant from the Massachusetts School Building Authority, this project promises to replace an outdated facility that has been serving the community for many years. Pat Tompkins, Principal at CTA Construction Managers, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, "Completing the building enclosure allows our team and trade partners to continue accelerating interior work as we move closer to delivering a modern, high-performance school for Newton's students, educators, and families."

The progress at Countryside Elementary School signifies not only a transformation in educational spaces but also highlights CTA's deep-rooted relationship with the City of Newton. Previously, CTA has successfully constructed schools such as Spaulding Elementary and Lincoln-Eliot Elementary, further strengthening their collaborative bond.

The Countryside project also marks a ten-year partnership with DiNisco Design, a notable architectural firm specializing in educational designs. Donna DiNisco, President of DiNisco Design, shared her excitement about this collaboration, stating, "We value the opportunity to continue working with CTA and the City of Newton on projects that have such a direct and lasting impact on students and the community."

With the building now securely enclosed, the focus has shifted to internal operations, encompassing the development of systems, finishes, and other critical elements to create a state-of-the-art learning environment. Construction began in 2025, and the community eagerly anticipates the transition of students into their new classrooms and educational spaces.

In addition to improving educational facilities, the new Countryside Elementary School project plans to demolish the current school facility after the new one opens. This will pave the way for newly developed playing fields and associated improvements, enhancing the school's recreational offerings.

As Newton continues to advance its commitment to modernizing educational infrastructures, initiatives like the Countryside Elementary School project exemplify the dedication to fostering improved learning environments and catering to the needs of future generations. The successful completion of this educational milestone is a testament to collaborative efforts invested in the local community's brighter future. The coming year promises to be an exciting time for Newton as students prepare to embark on their educational journey in a brand new setting.
