VinFast's Global Journey Fueled by TIME Recognition: A New Milestone

On a rainy Tuesday morning in Paris, a driver may not immediately recognize the SUV beside them at a red light. Thousands of miles away, a similar moment could unfold for someone in California as they spot the same brand on American roads. This vehicle is not from Germany or the well-known Asian manufacturers dominating established car markets; it is from VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker steadily making its mark across Europe and North America. The global journey of VinFast is linked to a much larger narrative within its parent company, Vingroup. This year, VinFast achieved a significant milestone by being ranked 340th on TIME's list of the world's best companies for 2026, produced in conjunction with Statista. This impressive ranking places Vingroup among the top 350 enterprises globally, illustrating an increase of nearly 500 positions from the previous year. Notably, it is the only Vietnamese company featured on this list for two consecutive years.

TIME and Statista do not gauge companies solely by their size; their methodology considers three key dimensions: revenue growth, employee satisfaction, and sustainability transparency. Vingroup received an overall score of 81 out of 100, advancing from 817th to 340th place worldwide. The revenue figures behind this score are substantial; in the first half of 2026, Vingroup reported a consolidated net revenue of 222.9 trillion VND, a remarkable 72% increase compared to the prior year, with a net profit of 20.904 trillion VND—over four and a half times the figure registered during the same period in 2025. This growth is largely driven by the group’s industrial manufacturing and real estate sectors, earning Vingroup an “Excellent” rating on its revenue measures.

Employee satisfaction told a similar story of momentum, as Vingroup climbed to 398th place globally—an increase of 496 spots—with a workforce now encompassing approximately 400,000 employees across 12 countries. In the realm of sustainability, the group has made significant strides through initiatives such as green transition projects, urban development, and long-term investments in systems that sustain a livable city rather than focusing on singular quarterly balances. Vinhomes, the group’s real estate division, has broadened this perspective through its ESG++ model, which incorporates resilience and renewal alongside the conventional three pillars of environmental, social, and governance efforts, applied to urban developments spanning thousands of hectares.

In 2025, two new business sectors expanded this vision—first, infrastructure through VinSpeeds high-speed rail projects connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio and Hanoi to Quang Ninh, and green energy through VinEnergo's initiatives across several provinces. Together, these efforts signify a commitment to constructing not merely standalone businesses but the interconnected frameworks—railways, electricity, and mobility—that a modern, low-carbon economy relies upon.

VinFast represents one of the clearest expressions of Vingroup's global ambitions within this broader ecosystem. The company’s expansion in Asia, North America, and Europe communicates its vision for a greener future to an increasingly international audience, while also positioning a Vietnamese brand to directly compete in some of the world's most established markets.

However, for customers contemplating a new automobile brand, global vision is just the beginning. The critical issue is whether a newcomer can earn the trust necessary to integrate into everyday life. Research from the McKinsey Center for Future Mobility provides a useful, albeit counterintuitive, perspective. McKinsey examined thousands of European car buyers, revealing that Europeans open to considering an Asian market participant show a total likelihood of 53% to switch to a new brand when transitioning to an electric vehicle—a figure that climbs as high as 63% in the United Kingdom. In essence, brand loyalty is proving more fluid in the era of electric vehicles than it was during the age of combustion engines.

This shift presents an opening for new electric vehicle brands. However, winning over customers requires more than simply offering a competitive vehicle. It entails making electric mobility accessible while simultaneously erecting a sales, service, and ownership infrastructure that provides customers with confidence throughout the ownership lifecycle. With an increasingly diverse and accessible product portfolio, VinFast remains committed to its mission of making electric vehicles more attainable for everyone. The aim is to empower customers to transition to green mobility with greater ease and security.

In Europe, VinFast is expanding its presence with products tailored around local priorities for efficiency, design, and accessibility, including the VF 6 and VF 8, while electric buses such as the EB 8 and the fully Europe-certified EB 12 further contribute to the region's transition towards greener transport.

The same vision across North America is supported by the expansion of VinFast's sales and service networks and the development of their Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. Collectively, these initiatives are designed to build a more comprehensive ecosystem around customers, extending beyond the vehicles themselves to the services and support that shape the ownership experience.

Vingroup was the first Vietnamese company to qualify for TIME's World's Best Companies list in 2025, while VinFast has gained recognition among TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies and Asia-Pacific's Best Employers in 2025. These milestones reflect growing international recognition of Vingroup's and VinFast's ambitions, capabilities, and expanding global reach. The latest TIME recognition for Vingroup comes at a time when its global footprint is becoming increasingly evident. For VinFast, the challenges and opportunities now span multiple continents, from European cities where this new brand gradually becomes familiar, to North American roads where the company builds its presence and customer ecosystem.
