Using instruments like the accordion, fiddle, and guitar, these groups will reveal the vibrant essence of Welsh music's heritage while infusing it with 21st-century energy.
Modern Expressions of Welsh Identity
The dance group 'Qwerin' will showcase the intersection of queer expression and Welsh identity through modern folk dance, fusing original soundtracks from renowned Welsh musicians with traditional attire featuring contemporary twists.
Attendees will have further opportunities to enjoy live performances on April 24 and 25 at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store, where 'NoGood Boyo', 'Calan', and 'Taff Rapids' promise an unforgettable experience.
Stamp Rally to Celebrate Wales
In conjunction with 'Year of Wales and Japan 2025', a stamp rally inspired by Japan's familiar 'station stamps' will allow participants to collect various stamps. Designed by Jonathan Edwards, an illustrator from North Wales, each stamp will depict the legendary dragon from the Welsh flag alongside symbols significant to both Wales and Japan’s landscapes. This rally, set across six 'stations' in the UK Pavilion, will present the culinary delights, innovative tech, and traditional textile designs of Wales, offering a deeper understanding of Welsh culture.

Enjoy the Musical Heritage of Tongwynlais
In addition, the Tongwynlais Temperance Band, originating from a small village near Cardiff, will perform across Japan from April 14 to 20. Formed in 1888, this brass band has consistently represented Wales in the All England National Brass Band Championships.
