Huawei Introduces Advanced F5G-A Optical Solutions for Industrial Intelligence

Huawei Unveils Four F5G-A Optical Connectivity and Sensing Solutions

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, Huawei introduced cutting-edge advancements in optical technology with the launch of four F5G-A optical connectivity and sensing solutions. These innovations are set to transform the way industries operate, driving a new wave of efficiency and intelligence in various sectors.

Keynote Highlights from Perry Yang

Perry Yang, President of Huawei's Enterprise Optical Domain, emphasized three critical trends in the keynote address: Fiber-in Copper-out, fgOTN-in SDH-out, and Optical-sensing-in, Hard-work-out. These trends are designed to cater to home, campus, and remote sensing applications. As an example, the optical sensing solutions are particularly noteworthy for their application in the inspection of oil and gas pipelines, as well as perimeter security measurements.

In his presentation, Yang stated that Huawei's Fiber to the Office (FTTO) solutions now serve over 10,000 campuses globally. The fgOTN technology has been adopted worldwide, while optical sensing technologies have been deployed in over 90 different projects across various industries, including those in oil and gas, airports, and railways. All these efforts converge towards one goal: enhancing industrial intelligence through the F5G-A technologies.

Launch of F5G-A Solutions

To meet the demands highlighted in the keynote, Huawei presented four specific solutions:
1. Fiber to the Home (FTTH) - This solution supports expedited network build-out and provides low-cost options for Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
- It includes multiple Fiber to the Room (FTTR) products, enabling quick coverage, increased bandwidth, and an improved user experience.

2. FTTO 2.0 Solution for Campus Networks - This upgraded solution offers significant improvements in bandwidth, functionality, operations, and planning. The capacity has escalated from 10 Gbit/s to a staggering 50 Gbit/s, allowing for high-speed connectivity directly in classrooms and Wi-Fi zones.
- New optical terminals that comply with M45 installation standards can now directly connect to hospital beds without the need for additional infrastructure changes.

3. Outdoor Optical Access Points (APs) - To enhance campus networks, these devices extend connectivity from indoor to outdoor spaces, proving beneficial for areas like school playgrounds and hotel swimming pools.

4. All-Optical Lossless Data Center Interconnect (DCI) Solution - This groundbreaking framework ensures zero packet loss during RDMA transfers across data centers, thus enhancing data processing efficiencies.

Additionally, Huawei has unveiled a compact perimeter inspection solution tailored for small campuses, such as substations and data centers. This integrated system employs converged sensing, utilizing both fiber and video analytics, along with advanced AI algorithms to ensure robust surveillance capabilities.

The Future of Optical Technology

Looking ahead, Huawei remains committed to the relentless advancement of optical technology. The company aims to foster collaboration with clients and partners worldwide, further enhancing the
