MINISO Celebrates Grand Opening of Its Largest Canadian Store in West Edmonton Mall

MINISO's Grand Opening at West Edmonton Mall

In November 2025, MINISO, the renowned global lifestyle brand, proudly opened its largest store in Canada, nestled within the bustling West Edmonton Mall. This mall, celebrated as Canada's largest shopping center, serves a community of approximately 1.3 million residents and attracts over 30 million visitors each year, featuring a remarkable selection of over 800 shops and diverse entertainment options.

A Store Like No Other

Spanning over 1,000 square meters, the new MINISO location is designed with a striking train-themed façade that encapsulates the brand's motto, "The Greatest Fun Journey." This design invites customers into a vibrant shopping experience, fostering joy and inspiration through a variety of global IP collaborations. Shoppers of all ages can explore themed zones featuring a wide assortment of products, including plush toys, lifestyle essentials, and beauty items.

The MINISO Edmonton store adheres to the company's "Super IP + Super Store" strategy, which focuses on showcasing a diverse range of around 5,000 SKUs. Customers can find collections from beloved global intellectual properties such as Sanrio (fans of Hello Kitty will be thrilled), Disney’s iconic characters like Stitch and Winnie the Pooh, and Harry Potter-themed items. Additionally, MINISO’s unique IPs, including Gift Bear Friends and YOYO, further enrich the shopping experience.

Exciting New Collections

Among the most anticipated items at the West Edmonton Mall store are the newly launched Hello Kitty Pop Star series and the Sanrio series featuring Fox Island and Animal Adventure vinyl plush surprise boxes, which debut in Canada. The Sanrio Lovely Ribbon Collection, which includes everyday items like shopping bags, plush hair accessories, metal pins, and fridge magnets, will also be available nationwide shortly thereafter. Furthermore, MINISO plans to introduce its original IPs, Kamaru and Carrot Street, at this location, offering fresh and exciting products in the coming months.

A Celebration to Remember

The grand opening was a festive occasion, attracting over 800 enthusiastic fans who participated in the inaugural celebrations. Bringing energy and joy, MINISO's Gift Bear Friends made a special appearance and performed a captivating dance, further igniting excitement among attendees. The opening day also set a record for first-day sales in Canada, reflecting the store's warm reception and the strong interest in MINISO's commitment to its Canadian expansion.

Looking Ahead

With a focus on innovative retail strategies and immersive shopping experiences, MINISO aims to shape new trends in the global retail market. The launch of its largest Canadian store signifies a major step in reinforcing the brand's presence and influence within Canada. Beyond Edmonton, MINISO has established stores in Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver, including standout locations such as the IP Collection Store at the Toronto Eaton Centre and the first pink-themed flagship store at CF Richmond Centre in Vancouver.

Plans for additional stores in key Canadian cities are on the horizon, with the goal of offering enhanced shopping experiences and further promoting MINISO's guiding philosophy: "Life is for Fun."
