Hitomile to Showcase System Overhaul at AWS Summit Japan 2026

Hitomile to Lead Session at AWS Summit Japan 2026

Hitomile Co., Ltd. (formerly known as Kakuyasu Group), headquartered in Kita-ku, Tokyo, has announced its participation in the prestigious AWS Summit Japan 2026, taking place on June 25 at Makuhari Messe. The company will present its practical case study on a significant system overhaul, showcasing the transformative power of AI in modernizing legacy systems.

Lecture Overview

The lecture, titled "The 100-Year-Old Sake Brewery Kakuyasu's Challenge: A System Revolution Powered by Generative AI," aims to prove that challenges lead to real value creation. With a long-standing legacy burdened by 30 years of legacy systems, Hitomile utilized Amazon Bedrock to break through the obstacles in just one month.

Breaking Free from Legacy Constraints

Kakuyasu, a subsidiary of Hitomile, has been delivering alcoholic beverages primarily in the Tokyo metropolitan area and extending its services to Kansai and Kyushu. For three decades, the operational core system has undergone numerous modifications, making it increasingly complex and difficult to analyze. As the current system's contract expiration loomed, the company faced considerable challenges. They decided to leverage Amazon Bedrock, the latest generative AI technology, to assist in system analysis. This strategic move enabled them to successfully resolve complex issues in an impressively short timeframe.

Many organizations encounter similar challenges with existing systems, often opting to play it safe. In contrast, Hitomile's approach demonstrates that embracing new technologies can yield significant value and opportunity. Their experience serves as a practical case study for Japanese companies pursuing digital transformation (DX) amidst similar modernization challenges. During the AWS Summit, they will share the insights gained from overcoming this period of uncertainty.

Long-Term Vision and Future Directions

Beyond system overhaul, Hitomile is committed to becoming a "thousand-year enterprise" that remains socially relevant for generations to come. Aligned with their mid-term management plan, the group is advancing the development of a unique platform system that integrates order management, shipping, and invoicing while accommodating multiple temperature zones. Enhancements in app functionality and operational efficiencies are also part of their corporate-wide DX initiatives.

Hitomile is steadily working towards transformative change that anticipates the needs of future generations. By shedding traditional constraints, the company aims to evolve into a next-generation platform enterprise while continuing to embrace innovation.

Meet the Speaker

The session will be led by Shinichi Ishii, the leader of the Core System Migration Project at Hitomile. With 27 years of experience in system development, Ishii is spearheading the company's efforts in system modernization and organizational transformation through generative AI, as well as nurturing the next generation of engineers in the information systems department.
