A Unique Creation: Bentley's Exquisite Surfboard

On April 15, 2025, Bentley Motors unveiled a stunning surfboard, the result of a collaboration with Marni Rays and Otter Surfboards. This venture was born out of a desire to merge luxury craftsmanship with an adventurous spirit, enhancing the surfing experience in breathtaking natural surroundings.

The surfboard features rare core wood, traditionally used in the interiors of Bentley's Grand Tourers. This choice was made by the founders of Marni Rays and Otter Surfboards, Lindsey Holland and James Otter, respectively. They selected this exquisite wood from a selection of nine veneers, honoring the tradition of handcrafted Hawaiian wooden surfboards. Bentley has a longstanding commitment to sustainability, carefully sourcing premium materials to create their luxury interiors.

Crafted by skilled artisans at Bentleys Crewe factory, this surfboard is made using techniques that had not been employed since the production of the Bentley Mulsanne ceased. The rare wood was meticulously fashioned and then sent to Cornwall, where James Otter carved it into a uniquely beautiful surfboard that embodies craftsmanship and artistry.

The final product features elegant etchings of the logos from Bentley, Marni Rays, and Otter Surfboards, showcasing a collaboration steeped in meticulous artistry.

Capturing a Journey

The entire process of creating this special surfboard has been documented in a short film, which takes viewers from the wood selection process in the workshop to Cornwall, where the board was skillfully crafted, culminating with the joy of surfing. The film includes a narration by Lindsey Holland, accompanying visuals that reflect the spirit of adventure and craftsmanship synonymous with this project.

This remarkable surfboard made its public debut at the VIP surf retreat hosted by Marni Rays, where attendees had the opportunity to experience its beauty and performance on the waves. Following this event, the surfboard will be donated to Surfability UK, a social enterprise that provides adapted surfing experiences for individuals with disabilities or learning challenges. It will be auctioned off as part of a charity event, where proceeds will support Surfability UK's vision to make the joy of the ocean accessible to everyone.
