Envision Energy Unveils Gen 8 Scalable Platform for Renewable Integration

Envision Energy, a global pioneer in green technology, recently showcased the complete launch of its Gen 8 Scalable Platform during its Tech Day event held in Beijing. This follows the earlier debut of their 8 MWh solution at Intersolar. The Gen 8 platform introduces an extensive range of modular configurations, strategically designed to meet diverse project requirements across renewable energy integration, high-performance deployments, and large-scale decarbonization efforts worldwide.

The Gen 8 Scalable Platform builds on the modular design of its predecessor, the Generation 6, offering unbeatable on-site flexibility while minimizing balance of plant (BoP) labor. With enhancements in energy density brought forth by the 5 MWh Generation 7 container, the introduction of a new cell boasting over 750 Ah significantly elevates the operational capabilities of this platform. Combining high energy density with a lightweight, easy-to-transport 3-meter modular unit, the Gen 8 allows for improved adaptability at various project sites. Customers can choose from unit configurations of 6 MWh, 8 MWh, 10 MWh, 12 MWh, and even higher capacities, providing a balance between spatial needs and operational duration tailored to project profitability and performance demands.

Advanced Flexibility and Safety Features

The modular design of the Envision Gen 8 further facilitates projects of varying scales, effortlessly supporting applications requiring over four hours of operation. Each unit weighs less than 29 tons, enabling seamless transportation, even in regions where strict highway weight limits are enforced. This lighter modular design allows clients to utilize lower-tonnage transport vehicles and cranes, enhancing equipment accessibility and contributing to reduced overall project costs. It also minimizes the required ground space for turning radii and lifting operations at the site. Alternatively, larger cranes can be employed to install multiple energy storage units without relocating them, significantly cutting down installation time and commissioning processes by up to 30%.

Envision has implemented a robust fire prevention strategy, ensuring multi-layered protection from the cell all the way to the system level, in accordance with the industry’s highest standards. Moreover, energy consumption for auxiliary operations is reduced by 12%, setting the stage for optimized energy use. The system's algorithms for State of Charge (SoC) and continuous dynamic balancing ensure operations run at maximum utility capacity, delivering precise estimates of the battery's operational status.

Lower LCOE with Smart Optimization

Each modular unit is built upon a high-capacity platform featuring over 750 Ah cells, translating to heightened energy density and a 26% smaller footprint compared to typical four-hour systems. Additionally, auxiliary energy consumption is minimized by 12%, which divides overall project costs and extends lifespans. These efficiencies result in improved profitability, with an estimated 1% internal rate of return (IRR) increase for a 100 MW/4-hour project compared to baseline systems of 5 MWh.

The offerings are powered by Envision’s intelligent OT-IT ecosystem, EnOS, which combines SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and hybrid Power Plant Controllers (PPC) into a comprehensive control architecture. This optimized system enables real-time complex management, predictive maintenance, and revenue optimization. Cloud fleet management utilizes machine learning to enhance performance and prolong system longevity, ensuring maximum financial returns in each project. Advanced analytics facilitate early detection of thermal and electrical anomalies, safeguarding assets while predictive maintenance and adaptive learning diminish downtime and maintenance costs. Furthermore, accurate forecasting of SoC/SoE enhances revenue and overall project profitability.

Advanced PCS with Environmental Durability

Envision Energy has also introduced its second 10 MVA configuration, which consists of four parallel-coupled 2.5 MW unit PCS. This modular PCS design boosts system availability and resilience while delivering a lower noise profile compared to single larger machines—crucial for noise-sensitive environments. Built to withstand the toughest conditions, the system operates reliably from -30°C to +55°C and complies with IP55 and C5 anti-corrosion standards to endure salinity, humidity, and harsh outdoor conditions. Its low-noise technology (≤55 dB(A)), complemented by optimized aerodynamics and control algorithms, minimizes airflow resistance and fan noise, making it an ideal fit for sensitive installations.

Kevin Huang, Envision Energy's Senior Vice President and Head of the Energy Storage Product Line, remarked, 'The Gen 8 Scalable Platform exemplifies our ongoing commitment to delivering storage systems that merge technical excellence with practical adaptability. This series offers not just a standalone product, but a complete family of solutions that empower our clients to design projects that precisely fit their needs, all while ensuring the highest levels of reliability and performance.' He emphasized that the Gen 8 not only advocates for a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future but also reinforces Envision's dedication to accelerating the global transition to renewable energies.
