Polish Music Evening: A Celebration of Masterpieces
On November 19, 2025, the Nikkei Muse Salon will host a special concert titled "An Evening of Polish Masterpieces" featuring a remarkable trio comprising the famous violinist
Agata Szymczewska, pianist
Masako Ezaki, and cellist
Shinsuke Hagawa. The concert, scheduled to start at 6:30 PM at
Nikkei Hall in Chiyoda, Tokyo, promises an enchanting experience showcasing the wealth of Polish musical heritage.
Artists Spotlight
Agata Szymczewska is no stranger to accolades; she won the prestigious 13th
Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition. Not only does she perform as a soloist, but she also leads the famous
Szymanowski String Quartet. Over her career, she has collaborated with eminent musicians like
Martha Argerich and
Seiji Ozawa, and she has recordings under major labels like
Deutsche Grammophon and
Sony. Currently, she is a professor at the
Chopin University of Music, nurturing future talents.
Masako Ezaki, known for her specialization in Polish music, completed her studies at
Toho Gakuen University and
Chopin University. She has secured victories in several competitions, including the 4th
Szymanowski International Piano Competition and has been honored with the
Gloria Artis Cultural Medal from the Polish government in 2010. Many collaborations with orchestras like the Czech Philharmonic have marked her extensive career, and she currently serves as a professor at
Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
Shinsuke Hagawa is the principal cellist of
Gaidai Philharmonia and earned his degree from
Tokyo University of the Arts. He actively performs with major orchestras in Japan and is a member of the
Ensemble Cordier and
Ensemble of Tokyo. His insights and skills are also shared as an associate professor at
Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.

- - Bacewicz – Oberek No. 1
- - Paderewski (arr. Bacewicz) – Melody
- - Wieniawski – Obertas
- - Additional works by Chopin including the Prelude and Polonaise No. 3 in C major and his Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 8.
