Kujira Sakisaka's Home Exhibit: A Poetic Journey Through Everyday Life

Experiencing Poetry in a Home Environment

The world of contemporary poetry finds a fascinating expression in the upcoming exhibition by Kujira Sakisaka, a poet who has recently garnered significant attention for two consecutive Akutagawa Prize nominations. Titled "I'm Home", this exhibition promises to provide a unique and immersive experience, blending poetry with everyday objects and spaces. The exhibition will take place from June 20 to June 29, 2025, at DAIKANYAMA GARAGEspace2, located in Nakameguro, Tokyo.

Kujira Sakisaka has chosen the theme of ‘home’ for this exhibition, a concept that resonates with everyone yet can be interpreted in numerous ways. In various segments of the space, visitors will find that poetry coexists with typical household items such as remote controls, refrigerators, curtains, washing machines, and cutlery. This unconventional installation aims to allow guests to engage directly with the essence of poetry through their interactions with these commonplace objects that often represent comfort, familiarity, and daily life.

As visitors navigate this interactive home, they will encounter poetry inscribed on various items throughout the space, inviting them to reflect on the deeper meanings behind everyday life. The goal is to create a sensorial experience where the lines of poetry intertwine with the mundane, making the familiar extraordinary.
