Western China International Fair Celebrates 20 Years of Growth and Innovation
The 20th Western China International Fair (WCIF) Opens
On May 25, 2025, the much-anticipated 20th Western China International Fair (WCIF) kicked off in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, with the theme "Deepen Reform for More Momentum, Expand Openness for Greater Growth." Over the course of five days, the fair is set to host more than 3,000 enterprises from 62 countries and regions, in addition to participants from 27 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China.
This year's event is particularly notable, featuring Hungary and Laos as the guest countries of honor for the first time, complemented by Zhejiang and Qinghai serving as guest provinces of honor. The United Arab Emirates joins as a special partner, adding an international flair to the proceedings.
Exhibition Areas and Highlights
The fair is organized into three exhibition areas: the Opening Up and Cooperation Exhibition Area, the New Industrial Momentum Exhibition Area, and the Wonderful Life Exhibition Area. A total exhibition space of 200,000 square meters has been designated for showcasing the latest advancements in science and technology, as well as characteristic industries from the participating nations and regions. Impressively, 114 enterprises this year are recognized within the Fortune Global 500 Companies, Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, and Top 500 Chinese Private Enterprises, with a significant presence of 61 Fortune Global 500 firms, reflecting a staggering 74.3% increase compared to the previous fair.
Significant Events and Investments
Throughout the fair, 25 distinct events are scheduled, including the Opening Ceremony, a Western China Investment Promotion Fair, and the Contract Signing Ceremony for Economic Cooperation Projects. Notably, attendees from western China have facilitated the signing of contracts for 416 investment cooperation projects with both domestic and international investors, amounting to an impressive RMB 354.3 billion in investment. Furthermore, preliminary estimates suggest that over 2,200 projects, cumulatively requiring investments exceeding RMB 3.7 trillion, have been initiated during this notable fair.
