Friedlander joins Knutson with over a decade of dedicated experience in the realms of real estate development, urban planning, and strategic acquisitions. Previously, she held the position of Vice President of Acquisitions at EYA LLC, where she was responsible for managing real estate acquisitions and development initiatives focused on mixed-use and residential projects. This role allowed her to sharpen her skills in creating vibrant, walkable communities that align seamlessly with Knutson's mission of enriching how people live, work, and connect.
Before her opportunity at EYA, Friedlander served as a Land Use Planner at Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley & Walsh, P.C. During her tenure, she worked with developer clients navigating the complexities of entitlement processes in Northern Virginia, including significant projects like the North Potomac Yard Small Area Plan. Her hands-on experiences include analyzing acquisition opportunities for affordable housing while working at WinnDevelopment, one of the largest private developers of affordable housing in the nation. Her career began with the City of Alexandria's Department of Planning & Zoning, where she managed large-scale rezoning initiatives that accounted for over 12 million square feet of new mixed-use development.
Educational Background
A proud fourth-generation Northern Virginian, Friedlander holds a Master of Urban Planning with Distinction from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. Her strong academic background, combined with practical experience, positions her as a valuable asset to Knutson, where innovation and strategic growth are paramount.
Leadership and Community Engagement
Friedlander remains actively engaged in the community and regional leadership. She co-chairs the NAIOP Northern Virginia's Government Relations Committee and is a member of ULI Washington's CRED Product Council. Additionally, Friedlander is part of the DC Real Estate Group and previously served as the chair of Alexandria's Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee. Her community involvement highlights her commitment not just to business growth but also to enhancing the fabric of the communities in which she works.
