New Café 'Layered.' Set to Revitalize Fairfax City's Old Town

Exciting New Café 'Layered.' to Open in Fairfax City

In the heart of Old Town Fairfax City, a long-vacant property is about to undergo a radical transformation with the anticipated opening of 'Layered.,' a fresh café and brunch destination from the owners of the renowned Chateau de Chantilly. Set to debut around July 2025, this establishment will occupy a spacious 3,600-square-foot facility located at the bustling Courthouse Plaza intersection.

This café represents a collaborative venture supported by Combined Properties and Fairfax City Economic Development, which has been instrumental in facilitating its establishment. Utilizing the Façade and Interior Improvement Grant (FIIG) program, the owners have revitalized what was once a McDonald's site, enhancing the structure into a modern and inviting venue for locals and visitors alike.

Christopher Bruno, CEO of Fairfax City Economic Development, expressed his enthusiasm regarding this new addition. He stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Layered., which will serve as a walkable community hub and a destination for visitors in Old Town Fairfax City. This project exemplifies how local leadership and investment can foster the growth of small, independent businesses.”

At Layered., diners can look forward to a menu filled with artisanal pastries, freshly baked cakes, gourmet sandwiches, and expertly crafted specialty coffees, all curated by a Michelin-trained chef. The café will boast ample seating, both indoors and outdoors, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for community gatherings.

Fairfax City Mayor Catherine Read also shared her excitement about the café's upcoming opening. “Having Layered. near the library will provide a great meeting point for families, students, and visitors. The café's name symbolizes the unfolding of our community as more businesses choose to settle here, enriching our downtown with unique offerings. I look forward to seeing this once-empty building revitalized and serving our city,
