Fashion Institute of Technology Announces Engaging Talks on Global Creative Industries

FIT Future//Forward Conversations at the Fashion Institute of Technology

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), which operates under the State University of New York (SUNY) banner, has announced an exciting new public programming initiative called 'FIT Future//Forward Conversations.' This series aims to establish the college as a central hub for those passionate about creative fields, fulfilling its mission as a leader in creative education. This initiative is spearheaded by FIT President Jason Schupbach.

As the creative landscape changes rapidly, the series will highlight discussions with influential figures who are redefining fashion, design, technology, and business. These conversations are designed to explore contemporary themes impacting how we create and work in the creative sectors.

In President Schupbach's words, these conversations promise to illuminate transformative ideas that are pivotal during this shifting era. Topics to be unpacked include the innovation of artificial intelligence, sustainable practices, and fluctuating consumer markets. The events aim to foster a collaborative dialogue among creative thinkers who are at the forefront of shaping the industry's future.

'FIT Future//Forward Conversations' will take place in two distinct formats: the Presidential Speaker Series and the Innovation Speaker Series. Both formats offer free public access and provide a platform for varying perspectives on leadership and innovation within the creative sphere.

The Presidential Speaker Series will host notable business leaders from around the globe in intimate conversations with President Schupbach. Some upcoming speakers include renowned figures such as Felita Harris, co-founder of RAISEfashion, and Ronnen Harary, co-founder of Spin Master behind the beloved children’s franchise, PAW Patrol. Notably, Ewa Abrams, the president of Kering Americas, is also slated to join the series to discuss her experiences.

On the Innovation Speaker Series side, audiences can look forward to engaging discussions between journalists and transformative designers. For instance, journalist Chloe Malle from Vogue will speak with industry thought leader Sally Singer, providing insights on editorial content in the fashion world.

Additionally, the series will feature conversations with Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell of Tanner Fletcher, who will share their groundbreaking design approach in dialogue with Fern Mallis, a pivotal figure behind New York Fashion Week.

Specific dates for events featuring prominent speakers like Vanessa Friedman, fashion director and chief fashion critic for The New York Times, and others will be revealed shortly. To ensure participation for those unable to visit in person, the events will be livestreamed, with recordings made available for later viewing.

For the creative community and those curious about the future trajectories in the fashion and creative industries, these discussions promise a wealth of knowledge. Registration is now open for the exciting upcoming events. Interested individuals can find more information and sign up at fitnyc.edu/futureforwardseries.
