Hill's Pet Nutrition Celebrates Milestone of 16 Million Pet Adoptions

Hill's Pet Nutrition Reaches 16 Million Pet Adoptions Milestone

In a remarkable testament to their commitment to animal welfare, Hill's Pet Nutrition recently announced a significant milestone: the support of 16 million pet adoptions through their Food, Shelter & Love program since its inception in 2002. This initiative highlights Hill’s dedication to ensuring that more pets find loving homes, all while receiving quality nutrition.

The Food, Shelter & Love program offers discounted, science-led nutrition to over 1,000 animal shelters across North America every day. To date, Hill's has donated more than $300 million in food, making a substantial difference to countless shelter animals waiting to be adopted.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, Hill’s Pet Nutrition is organizing a special Sweet 16 Million Adoptions Celebration. From December 8 to December 14, the company will donate up to $200,000 aimed at offsetting dog and cat adoption fees at select partner shelters in the U.S. and Canada. Adopters will also receive a New Pet Parent Kit, which includes a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet, valuable coupons, and helpful post-adoption tips.

Carrick Massey, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Hill’s US, expressed pride in the program's success. He stated, “The Hill's Food, Shelter & Love program's achievement directly reflects the tireless dedication of our shelter partners and the compassion of adopters who have opened their hearts to pets in need. We believe that high-quality nutrition plays a key role in helping pets be happy, healthy, and ready for adoption.”

The celebration invites prospective adopters to check the websites and social media pages of participating shelters for adoption specials and operational hours. The shelters involved in the initiative span various locations, including:
  • - Arizona: Maricopa County Animal Care & Control
  • - California: Humane Society Silicon Valley, Marin Humane, Front Street Animal Shelter
  • - Florida: Orange County Animal Services, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, Humane Society of Vero Beach
  • - Illinois: Pet Central Helps!
  • - Texas: Houston SPCA

Shelters across the U.S. are anticipating the support from Hill's, with Sydney Mollentine, President & CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, sharing insights into the program’s impact. She noted, “Hill's Sweet 16 Million Adoptions Celebration comes at a valuable time, helping us and other North American shelters find homes for deserving animals. We’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of nutrition for shelter pets.”

Beyond supporting adoptions, the Food & Shelter Love program extends its benefits through various initiatives:
  • - Community Food Pantries: Distribution of 1.5 million pounds of food to shelter-owned food pantries and community food banks in the last four years.
  • - Disaster Relief: Over 4.4 million pounds of food provided during more than 200 emergencies since the program's establishment in 2013.
  • - Education and Research: Offering insights and resources to promote animal welfare, including an annual State of Shelter Pet Adoption Report.
