Aoba Japan Bilingual Preschool Achieves Full IB Accreditation
Aoba Japan Bilingual Preschool (AJB), operated by Aoba-BBT Corporation, has officially received its International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation for its Yoga campus as of April 9, 2026. This significant achievement means that all six campuses of AJB, part of the Aoba group, now hold IB accreditation, marking a 100% accreditation rate across the organization. With this status, Aoba group positions itself as one of Japan's leading educational groups offering consistent IB education from preschool through to the final year of high school.
Establishing International Quality in Education
In Japan, there remains a strong perception that high-quality education equates with educational institutions under school corporations. As such, there can be skepticism regarding the educational quality of institutions operated by private companies. However, Aoba group has broken this norm by acquiring IB accreditation for all its IB-targeted campuses while operating as a corporation. In addition, its core school, Aoba Japan International School (A-JIS), has been recognized by two prestigious international accrediting bodies: the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This level of recognition under the operational guise of a corporation is quite rare in Japan.
Currently, the Aoba group operates 11 international schools and preschools within Tokyo, and alongside AJB's six IB-accredited campuses, Musashi International School Tokyo (MIST) has gained certification from the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). Notably, Aoba group is currently the only educational institution inJapan to hold both IB and Cambridge international accreditations.
Additionally, the corporate structure allows for swift decision-making and dynamic capital investments, facilitating the establishment of new campuses, improving educational facilities, and attracting exceptional teachers. The ability to balance high educational quality with a corporation's growth speed highlights Aoba group’s mission: delivering world-class education to a greater number of children.
Cultivating Future Global Leaders Through Consistent IB Education
Emphasizing the importance of providing world-class education from early childhood, Aoba group fosters inquiry, independence, leadership, problem-solving skills, and innovation through its consistent IB curriculum from preschool to high school. Aiming to cultivate children who can explore their futures independently and make positive contributions to society in Japan and around the world, the educational outcomes have been reflected in impressive university acceptance rates, including top-ranked institutions globally. Graduates have successfully gained admissions to respected universities such as UC Berkeley, Imperial College London, University of Chicago, Toronto University, University College London, the University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon University, and Washington University, among others. In Japan, graduates have been accepted into renowned universities including Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, Osaka University, Nagoya University, Tsukuba University, ICU, Keio University, Waseda University, and Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
Future Prospects of the Aoba-BBT Group
Aoba-BBT group aims to further enhance global education through its comprehensive educational offerings, spanning from early childhood education to universities and graduate schools.
