Dahua Technology Unveils Innovative AIoT Solutions for Smart Cities at SCEWC 2026

Dahua Technology, a global leader in video-centric IoT solutions, showcased its latest offerings for smart cities at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2026, held in Barcelona from November 3rd to 5th. With the theme of "Together for an AI-Powered Urban Future," Dahua presented its practical AIoT applications aimed at building safer, more efficient, and sustainable urban environments.

Enhancing Urban Safety

One of the highlights of Dahua's showcase was its Urban Safety solutions, which connect various IoT devices like cameras to AI-driven analytics. These systems are designed to detect risks and coordinate emergency responses. For example, one application integrates intelligent recognition, text and image searches, and route tracking with interconnected broadcasting and security processes to assist in finding missing persons.

Smart Traffic Solutions

For traffic management, Dahua introduced technologies that enhance vehicle surveillance, signal optimization, law enforcement, and incident detection. In Campeche, Mexico, the company optimized 34 intersections, introducing seven green waves that resulted in a 20% increase in traffic flow and a 15% decrease in wait times. This project exemplifies how AI can transform traditional traffic systems into more streamlined operations.

Improving Public Transport

Dahua's Smart Mobility solutions are designed to enhance the safety and efficiency of public transport systems through vehicle monitoring, security alerts, and integrated information services. Features like driver surveillance help identify risky behavior, while real-time video, GPS tracking, and passenger counting support safety oversight, fleet management, and fare validation.

Intelligent City Governance

The technology park also showcased Dahua's City Governance solutions, utilizing AI analytics and multimodal information processing to identify issues like illegal street vending, litter, open manholes, flooded roads, blocked fire lanes, and smoke or fire incidents. Natural language processing and automated alerts aid personnel in addressing these challenges promptly.

Eco-Environment Solutions

Dahua's Eco-Environment solutions focus on environmental protection and resource management. High-mounted thermal cameras provide 360-degree coverage for detecting fire hazards up to 10 kilometers away. These cameras complement ground surveillance and drone operations for effective fire detection and emergency interventions. Moreover, radar devices paired with PTZ cameras monitor water levels in real-time and send alerts when thresholds are exceeded.

Thought Leadership on AI Integration

Beyond the technology demonstrations, John Li, Dahua Technology's General Manager for Global Government Affairs, participated in a high-level round table titled "AI Agents in Action Systems." He emphasized how AI integrated with cameras and sensors enables proactive urban management, advocating for privacy, transparency, and accountability to ensure AI provides public value.

In a conference on building resilient, inclusive, and sustainable smart cities through AIoT, Max Huang, Dahua's Director of International Government Projects, elaborated on how edge intelligence and high-quality structured data solidify the foundation for deploying large AI models in tangible smart city scenarios. "After all, IoT detection devices serve as the 'eyes and hands' of AI. The future AI will not only process information from the digital realm but will extend into the physical world, assisting us in managing cities to be safer, more efficient, and livable," Mr. Li stated.

Looking forward, Dahua is committed to collaborating with clients and partners to advance smart city solutions and continue the digital transformation of urban spaces.
