Cainiao Unveils Groundbreaking AI Partnership to Revolutionize Logistics with Real-World Training

Cainiao's Innovative Industry Partnership for AI and Embodied Intelligence

In a groundbreaking move, Cainiao, a prominent player in e-commerce logistics and technology, has officially launched an ambitious industry partnership initiative focusing on AI and embodied intelligence. This new venture aims to establish the world’s largest real-world training network, providing essential infrastructure to support the evolving needs of technology companies in the AI sector.

On November 5, 2026, Cainiao announced its endeavor to open its expansive global warehouse network to partners keen on developing practical pathways for AI and robotics technology. The initiative seeks to facilitate technology training, real-world validation, and industry deployment, making it easier for companies to scale effectively in these rapidly growing fields.

CEO William Xiong emphasized the significance of AI as a catalyst for productivity growth, noting that Cainiao has cultivated a sustainable, efficient smart logistics ecosystem over the past decade. As AI transitions from research laboratories into practical, industrial applications, Cainiao aims to leverage its extensive global network to accelerate value creation for its partners.

With the rise of embodied intelligence, the focus is increasingly shifting from digital-only solutions to integrating intelligence within physical industries. Cainiao anticipates that the upcoming decade will witness substantial advancements in the efficiency and efficacy of AI systems, potentially improving operational performance by ten to fifty-fold.

To support this transition, Cainiao is rolling out multiple industry-specific proof-of-concept scenarios. These scenarios will encompass crucial operational areas, such as warehouse picking, intelligent navigation, delivery logistics, high-altitude inspections, security operations, aviation logistics, and auto parts management. This diverse array of offerings will provide partner companies with the tools necessary for joint research and development efforts, hands-on machine training, and business validation, ensuring a comprehensive approach to AI integration in real-world scenarios.

Cainiao’s extensive global logistics network enables it to manage the entire process, from domestic pickup and cross-border transportation to international fulfillment. This capability is invaluable for companies developing embodied intelligence solutions, as it offers a larger and more realistic training platform, fostering more effective validations of AI applications.

Earlier pilot deployments have successfully encompassed a variety of contexts, including express delivery, e-commerce, FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), and auto parts management. These trials have covered three main task categories: basic tasks such as parcel feeding and labeling, mid-level tasks like small-item sorting, and advanced operational tasks such as palletizing and complex depalletizing. This broad spectrum has enabled robots to evolve from executing single-point tasks to handling sophisticated, real-world challenges.

Furthermore, Cainiao introduced its new Global Tech in Three Days service tailored for global AI computing firms and hardware suppliers. This one-stop service is designed to support tech companies at varied stages of development by offering integrated assistance, including customs support, logistics solutions, high-value cargo insurance, warehousing, and spare-parts management. The global express service is particularly aimed at on-demand needs for research and development testing, customer demonstrations, and efficient product fulfillment.

In his remarks, Xiong reiterated the vision to extend the logistics capabilities previously harnessed for e-commerce into the realms of AI and embodied intelligence. The goal is to facilitate the global proliferation of intelligent technologies as seamlessly as traditional e-commerce parcels travel across borders.

As Cainiao moves forward, it remains committed to forging partnerships with tech companies and research institutions, thereby enhancing AI validation processes and expanding industrial applications. The company has already signed collaboration agreements with various leading firms in AI computing and embodied intelligence, marking a promising start for this innovative initiative which saw nearly 100 representatives from across the industry gather during its launch in Hong Kong. This strategic move could potentially redefine the landscape of logistics and AI integration, paving the way for a more efficient future in technology deployment.
