What Is the Whisky Certification Exam?
The Whisky Certification Exam was initiated with the aim of enhancing the understanding and enjoyment of whisky. It tests knowledge related to whisky manufacturing processes, history, culture, and trivia. Since its inception in 2014, over 35,000 individuals have participated in the certification process, with the most recent exam occurring last February.
The exam not only includes questions about whisky ingredients and terminology but also explores the cultural background of Scotch whisky production regions such as Scotland. This approach helps candidates understand the rich context that contributes to the unique flavors of whisky they enjoy.
The exam format combines multiple-choice questions with some descriptive questions for select levels, making it accessible even for beginners who wish to embark on their whisky journey.
