Sidel Launches EvoDECO® Next, Transforming Roll-Fed Labelling with Efficiency
Sidel Unveils EvoDECO® Next: A New Era in Roll-Fed Labelling
Sidel has recently introduced its latest innovation, EvoDECO® Next, a state-of-the-art roll-fed labelling solution that aims to reshape the landscape of high-performance beverage production. This next-generation system emphasizes not only production efficiency but also enhanced design possibilities, making it a game changer for beverage manufacturers.
Revolutionizing The Labelling Process
The introduction of EvoDECO® Next signifies a pivotal shift in how producers approach labelling their products. Traditionally, manufacturers faced a dilemma: they had to choose between industrial efficiency, material savings, and appealing designs. EvoDECO Next alleviates this concern by integrating partial labels into a simplified roll-fed architecture, allowing the use of less label material while maximizing the branding potential of the bottle.
According to Anne Philippe Lafon, Product Manager at Sidel, "EvoDECO Next redefines roll-fed labelling. Producers no longer need to settle for compromises between efficiency, material conservation, and effective branding. With our new approach, brands can save material while enhancing visibility and stomach appeal without sacrificing the robustness required in industrial production."
Enhanced Visibility and Premium Aesthetics
In the continuous evolution toward greater material efficiency and circular economy in PET packaging, brands are under constant pressure to make their products stand out at the point of sale. While much focus has been on reducing the bottle weight, EvoDECO Next takes the decoration aspect into account by treating the label as another component of the packaging that can be optimized. The platform now accommodates smaller partial labels rather than standard full-wrap options.
This innovation allows more of the bottle to be visible, letting the shape, transparent PET, and product itself contribute to the brand's visual identity. Depending on the chosen decoration, Sidel claims that partial labels can reduce the label surface area by up to 75% compared to conventional full-wrap labels. For example, a switch from a full-wrap label to a 90° partial label can save 208.4 tons of BOPP material annually, cutting associated CO₂ emissions by 346 tons and translating into annual cost savings of about €723,000.
Integrated Technology for Performance
EvoDECO Next is designed not as just a modified roll-fed machine for shorter labels but as an integrated platform that works seamlessly across various functions, including feeding, cutting, application, and quality control. Its core innovation is a cutting system that operates directly from the transfer drum with dual blades to quickly process shorter labels.
A smart buffer manages roll changes without impacting production speed, and its streamlined configuration does not require extra floor space or alterations to standard film pathways, protecting overall production efficiency. Additionally, the Smart Camera technology eliminates the need for reference marks, allowing manufacturers flexible material and label choices that can further cut down material use.
Simplifying Operations
EvoDECO Next supports Sidel's automated roll management solution, CoboREEL®, further minimizing operator intervention and providing integrated traceability while supporting a production autonomy of up to 18 rolls. The labelling station has been simplified to ensure quicker changeovers, easier maintenance, and consistent availability.
With over 50 years of experience in labelling and more than 330 EvoDECO machines sold globally, Sidel's EvoDECO Next is set to expand packaging optimization beyond just PET bottles. Each label helps contribute to waste reduction, increased design freedom, and streamlined production processes.
