Craft Sake Week 2026 at Roppongi Hills
The much-anticipated Craft Sake Week 2026 is set to take place from April 17 to 29 at Roppongi Hills Arena in Tokyo, marking its longest duration yet at 13 days. Hosted by Japan Craft Sake Company, led by renowned former footballer Hidetoshi Nakata, this annual event is a celebration of Japanese food culture centered around the exquisite art of sake brewing.
This year will be particularly special, as 130 participating sake breweries will showcase their finest creations alongside five highly sought-after restaurants. Notably, the event will feature venue design by Johei Shigematsu, partner at the renowned architectural firm OMA’s New York office. This collaboration aims to create a contemporary space that resonates with Japan's unique aesthetic, utilizing traditional materials like cherry blossoms, bamboo, and masu (cubic measuring cups).
Since its inception in 2016, Craft Sake Week has grown tremendously, attracting over 1.25 million visitors and garnering significant attention from both domestic and international media. What began as a simple tasting event has evolved into a cultural platform that redefines and expands the potential of sake. Over the last decade, sake has not only gained recognition in Japan but has also established itself as a prominent player in the global restaurant scene, comparable to wine.
