Exciting Summer Menu at Sundubu Nakayama Tofu Shop



As summer heats up, Nakayama Tofu Shop, a specialized Sundubu restaurant operated by Tobira Dining Co., is set to delight customers with two new offerings: the refreshing Tomato Sundubu and the spicy Extra Hot Tomato Sundubu, starting from July 9, 2025. Additionally, the Unagi Bibimbap will be available from July 15, 2025, just in time for the traditional Doyo no Ushi no Hi (day of the eel).

Refreshing Sundubu Soup


The Tomato Sundubu features house-made tofu, made from the premium soybean variety Toyomasari, often referred to as the “Yokozuna of Soybeans.” This tofu is boiled until warm and combined with an original Sundubu soup made from unique paste and vegetables. Each bowl is topped with a tomato that has been blanched and marinated in kelp broth, enhancing its flavor.

When you break the tomato into the bubbling soup, the balance of the tomato's tangy flavor and the umami from the kelp creates a delightful and refreshing taste.

Extra Hot Tomato Sundubu


For those who crave a kick, the Extra Hot Tomato Sundubu adds powdered habanero on top. One bite will leave you sweating as the intense heat harmonizes beautifully with the natural umami and freshness of the tomato combined with the kelp broth. It’s a perfect blend of spicy and savory flavors that is sure to satisfy heat seekers.

Celebrate Doyo no Ushi no Hi with a Twist


This year, Doyo no Ushi no Hi will occur twice, and to honor this occasion, Nakayama Tofu Shop will offer Unagi Bibimbap with Mini Sundubu from July 15 to July 31, 2025. This dish consists of a succulent, steamed eel grilled to perfection, then drizzled with a sweet and spicy sauce made from two types of gochujang and garlic, all served alongside a mini Sundubu.

The Unagi Bibimbap will showcase the best of summer flavors, providing a hearty and balanced meal that celebrates seasonal eating.
