California Science Center to Launch New Exhibition with Vibrant Murals Celebrating Sports and Science

California Science Center Unveils Murals for 'GAME ON!'

The California Science Center, located in Los Angeles, has announced the unveiling of three stunning murals that will complement its exciting new exhibition titled 'GAME ON! Science, Sport & Play.' This exhibition, opening to the public on May 15, 2025, has been developed with the active support of several foundations, including the Walter Family Foundation, Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, and LA84 Foundation.

Murals to Inspire and Engage

Set within a dynamic 17,000 square foot space, the murals are designed to enhance visitor experiences and bring the exhibition to life with vibrant and unique images. Each mural reflects the artist's dedication to community, sports culture, and the spirit of Los Angeles. The selected artists include Moses X. Ball, Laci Jordan, and Gustavo Zermeño Jr., each known for their distinct contributions to the artistic landscape of LA.

1. Moses X. Ball - His mural, aptly titled "Motivation in Motion," is an impressive 23 feet by 18 feet in size. Featuring bright and powerful imagery, Ball's work celebrates community heroes and aims to inspire young Angelenos. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, Moses's past commissions include work for the Nike Community Store and the Los Angeles Lakers, showcasing his ability to bring stories of often-overlooked individuals to the forefront.

2. Laci Jordan - An artist and creative director, Jordan's mural "For the Love of the Game" spans 48 feet by 16 feet. Utilizing vivid colors, her work promotes authenticity and representation in pop culture, often focusing on underrepresented voices. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, and now based in Los Angeles, her client roster includes major brands like Disney and Nike. Jordan aims to reflect contemporary culture and the power of sports in creating strong communities.

3. Gustavo Zermeño Jr. - Known for his striking portraits celebrating sports figures, Zermeño's mural, "It's Time for Dodger Baseball," measures 60 feet by 18 feet. A lifelong Dodgers fan, his mural captures the essence of the team's spirit while promoting sports as a unifying force within the city. He has collaborated with various organizations across Los Angeles, demonstrating his commitment to uplifting local communities through art.

A Hands-On Experience

The 'GAME ON!' exhibition doesn't stop at visual art. It will offer a plethora of activities designed to engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a range of sports activities like baseball, soccer, yoga, and even dance. This hands-on approach resonates well with the intended message of the exhibition, emphasizing the powerful relationship between sports, science, and joy of movement.
