Empowering Women in Asset Management: Insights from the 10th AMWF Forum

The 10th Asset Management Women's Forum (AMWF), which is part of a network promoting women's participation in the asset management industry, successfully held an event titled "More Interesting Than I Thought! Understanding the Asset Management Industry through the Honest Talks of Current Employees" on February 10, 2026. The event attracted about 30 participants in person and around 50 via a webinar, showcasing the industry's commitment to inclusivity.

The event was structured in three parts. The first segment featured Sayaka Nakano from Nomura Asset Management, who addressed the fundamental aspects of the asset management field. Her presentation, themed "Understanding the Asset Management Industry from Scratch," provided clear explanations on investment risks and returns, as well as the mechanisms behind investment trusts. This foundational knowledge allowed many attendees to grasp the complexities of asset management for the first time.

In the second segment, a panel discussion took place with prominent figures in the industry, including Takuro Goto from Amova Asset Management, Riko Sano from Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management, Mao Nakade from Resona Asset Management, and Yuto Nishizawa from Rheos Capital Works. The panelists engaged in a lively exchange of ideas on diverse topics such as work-life balance, job satisfaction, and unique perspectives within the asset management field. This interactive session not only illuminated the various career paths available but also demonstrated the different approaches that companies adopt to enhance employee experience.

The third part of the event involved an interactive networking session, where participants had the opportunity to interact directly with the panelists, fostering a friendly and open atmosphere. Many students expressed that they were initially unaware of the asset management industry but found new interest and motivation to explore potential career opportunities. The event generated fruitful discussions, with questions pouring in even after the closing time, highlighting the participants' eagerness to learn more.

Surveys conducted after the event revealed that participants deeply appreciated the insights gained about working in asset management, underscoring the event's significance in enhancing awareness about the industry. Many attendees reported that it was a valuable educational experience that expanded their understanding of the work environment.

In addition to the event, the AMWF produced a video aimed at making the asset management field feel closer to students and prospective professionals. This video elaborates on why promoting women's roles is crucial for sustainable growth within companies, following the daily lives of female employees working in asset management, and showcasing their engaging work in areas such as investment management, product development, and operational tasks.

Looking ahead, the AMWF is committed to continue its endeavors towards enhancing industry recognition and advocating for women's active participation within the asset management sector. Since its inception in May 2022, the AMWF has operated under the conviction that human capital is the primary asset in the asset management industry, fostering competition and innovation. The network is backed by 24 member companies, all dedicated to creating an empowering workplace environment for women in this evolving field.

The AMWF's mission encompasses several goals: to provide opportunities for participation and interaction among industry professionals, to foster an environment where women can thrive, and to share best practices across companies to advance the promotion of women in asset management. The network also aims to communicate messages beyond the industry to elevate the image and recognition of women's contributions to asset management. With its recent initiatives, including educational events and engaging video content, the AMWF hopes to inspire the next generation of female leaders in the asset management industry.
