Clara Initiates European Market Project for Traditional Japanese Pottery in Paris

Clara Corporation's European Market Expansion Project



On February 2, 2026, Clara Corporation, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, collaborated with Television Nagasaki to hold a business meeting in Paris, France, focusing on traditional Japanese ceramics from Hizen, namely Hasami Ware and Arita Ware. This initiative is part of the "Hizen Nouveau" project aimed at promoting these beautiful ceramics in the European market and establishing a long-term export framework.

The Event


The meeting took place in the picturesque Marais district of Paris, known for its arts and fashion. The venue, a rented gallery, welcomed approximately 100 attendees, including buyers, industry professionals, and press representatives. Ten pottery manufacturers from Nagasaki and Saga participated, showcasing their exquisite ceramics. Prior to the event, these local artisans shipped their products to Paris to finalize local selling prices and distribution plans.

Treasure troves of craftsmanship filled the gallery, and the outcome exceeded expectations, with over 40 pieces of ceramic ware resulting in immediate orders after the discussions.

Project Goals and Activities


The project aims to introduce traditional Japanese pottery to European markets through the "Hizen Nouveau" brand. Participating were three Hasami Ware producers and seven Arita Ware producers, all of whom spent seven months preparing for this significant event. This preparation included an invitation for two French buyers to visit Japan in November 2025, where they toured the ten potteries to purchase samples and negotiate export prices.

Supported by Clara Corporation's expertise in overseas promotions, the project encompassed strategic planning in collaboration with Television Nagasaki. Their efforts included developing practical marketing techniques and providing crucial logistic support to ensure smooth execution during the Paris meeting.

Ongoing Support and Future Initiatives


Clara Corporation’s overseas promotion support extends beyond traditional markets; their established networks in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Oceania provide broad platforms for Japanese products. Part of the project funding is supported by a grant from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, reflecting the commitment to boosting Japanese exports through comprehensive assistance from planning to post-implementation follow-up.

In the future, Clara Corporation will continue to design optimal promotional strategies aligned with regional challenges, customer objectives, and product specifics, aiming to enhance the overseas presence of regional products sustainably.
