This competition saw a remarkable response, receiving a total of 6,974 entries, comprising 5,343 from the general category and 1,631 from the macro category.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the TAMRON Photo Contest 2025. With such a large number of submissions, the competition was fierce but rewarding. The judges, Mr. Daisuke Kumakiri for the general category and Ms. Reiko Hagiwara for the macro category, conducted a rigorous evaluation process to select 32 prize-winning photographs. General Category Gold Award

Winner: Takayasu Ikeda - Title: "Morning Sunshine"

Judge's Comments: Judge Daisuke Kumakiri noted that this image captures the essence of youth and vitality, depicting a cyclist desperately pedaling uphill towards the morning sun. The use of a super-telephoto lens beautifully enhances the compressed perspective of the scene. The composition impressively incorporates the street lamp on the right, adding a dynamic element to the design. The subtle hint of a departing car in the background enriches the narrative, while the lens's impressive backlight resistance further supports this masterpiece. The silhouette of the cyclist appears at a perfect moment, lending a sense of time and movement to the foreground of the image.

Macro Category Gold Award

Winner: Mayumi Takahashi - Title: "Born to Be"

Judge's Comments: Judge Reiko Hagiwara praised this photograph for its delicate portrayal of life. At just 2mm in diameter, the egg of the Japanese flounder is stunningly captured through a macro lens. Instead of focusing on multiple eggs, Takahashi selected a single egg, showcasing a breathtaking moment enhanced by a dreamy bokeh effect that immerses the viewer in a fantastical realm. The unique angle and thoughtful light application reveal the nuances of the egg's features and brilliantly highlight its vibrant pink hue, emphasizing warmth and depth. The touching story, paired with the knowledge that father flounders guard their eggs until they hatch, transforms this photograph into a timeless narrative of life and beauty.
