A Unique Afternoon Tea Experience at THE GREY ROOM
Nestled in the heart of Ginza, overlooking the bustling Sukiyabashi intersection, THE GREY ROOM is set to unveil a remarkable afternoon tea experience beginning November 1, 2025. This exclusive offering reimagines traditional Indian cuisine with a modern twist, making it a must-try for tea enthusiasts and foodies alike.
The creative minds behind this innovative menu are none other than Tejas Sovani, the Executive Chef who oversees both THE GREY ROOM and the acclaimed SPICE LAB TOKYO. Drawing from the rich heritage of Indian culinary traditions, Tejas masterfully reconstructs the classic concept of afternoon tea, presenting a vibrant selection of sweets inspired by two distinct themes.
An Exquisite Array of Delights
The upper tier of this afternoon tea set features Indian-inspired sweets that delight the palate with their unique sweetness and subtle hints of spice. Among the standout items are
Pistachio Shrikhand,
Purple Sweet Potato Burfi, and
Fruit Gujiya, each reflecting the authentic flavors of India.
Transitioning to the middle tier, guests will encounter a selection of classic European pastries. This section includes seasonal delights like
Mini Mont Blanc and
Berry Tartlets, alongside traditional scones infused with chai to create a harmonious balance of flavors across the entire selection.
The lower tier promises a savory adventure, offering unique renditions of Indian street food and light bites. Standouts here include the crunch of
Leafy Chaat and the flavorful
Fish Amritsari Sliders. The intention behind starting with spicy savories is to ignite the appetite, setting the perfect tone for engaging conversations during tea time.
Beverage Selection
To elevate the experience further, guests can choose from six varieties of spice-infused teas and two kinds of Indian coffee, all available for a delightful 90-minute free-flow period. This makes the afternoon tea not just a meal, but a celebration, especially with the option of a champagne plan designed for anniversaries or special celebrations.
