Get Creative with Cardboard Dinosaurs
In an era where digital devices dominate children’s leisure time, a hands-on activity is set to take place in Setagaya.
Fujikompou Paper and Packaging Co., Ltd. will host a unique workshop on April 29, 2026, titled "Cardboard Dinosaur Building Workshop." This engaging event specifically targets elementary school students and their parents, aiming to provide an opportunity for kids to discover the joys of tangible play and creativity.
Why Focus on Cardboard Dinosaur Kits Now?
Recent studies show concerning trends regarding children's screen time. According to research from the University of Ottawa in 2025, young students spend an average of about two hours daily on tablets, which escalates to as much as five hours for older students. Additionally, findings indicate that for every hour of screen time, children's academic performance could drop by around 10%.
As summer approaches, a long holiday lies ahead. It’s crucial to encourage children to explore non-digital play alternatives. This workshop offers a chance to engage in real-world, handcrafted experiences using a common material—cardboard. By focusing on building dinosaurs, children can initiate a "mini digital detox," redirecting their attention from screens to hands-on activities.
A Personal Touch from the Organizer
As a parent of a fifth grader and a third grader, I frequently witness how screens can dominate our daily lives. Like many parents, I often think, "I wish my kids engaged with more real-world activities." This event aims to provide a space where digital play does not overshadow traditional aspects of fun and creativity. Our goal isn’t to dismiss digital entertainment; instead, we want to highlight that real-world play is also a viable and rewarding choice.
What to Expect at the Workshop
The activity will utilize the
Cardboard Dinosaur Kit known as "Battle Dinosaur." Designed for easy assembly, participants won’t need any special tools—just their hands and fingers!
During the workshop, we aim to:
- - Showcase how ordinary cardboard can become fun through imagination and creativity.
- - Make participants aware of the tactile experiences they might overlook.
- - Foster communication and collaboration among children as they work alongside each other to complete their dinosaur models.
By the end of the session, children will showcase their creations and enjoy interactive play, fostering friendships while learning and creating together.
