April 2025 E-Commerce Site Speed Rankings
In a recent survey conducted by Gaprise, a Tokyo-based digital business support firm, the
April 2025 e-commerce site speed rankings have been unveiled. This report evaluated the loading speeds of the top 300 companies based on their monthly traffic, specifically focusing on the sites that generate over 100,000 visits each month.
Overview of the Survey
The study utilized Google's
Chrome User Experience Report data set to gauge load speeds at the domain-level. The primary metric of interest is LCP, or
Largest Contentful Paint, which measures how swiftly the largest element on the webpage is rendered. Google advocates that to ensure a good user experience, LCP should be under 2.5 seconds, with a value below 1 second signifying outstanding performance.
Key Findings of the Rankings
One notable highlight from this survey is that all top ten sites managed to achieve an
LCP of 1.1 seconds or below. Websites such as
AmiAmi Online Shop and
SHOPLIST.com have set exemplary standards with their remarkable loading speeds.
Furthermore, among the 274 sites reviewed, around
73% of them achieved an LCP score within 2.5 seconds, indicating a significant awareness among e-commerce sites regarding the importance of loading speed and ongoing efforts towards improvement.
Prominent brands like Amazon have shown continuous efforts to enhance their page load times: their LCP has improved month-on-month – from 1.857 seconds in February to 1.671 seconds in April. This trend underscores that even the industry giants should consistently strive for improvements in their performance metrics.
Noteworthy is the significant rise of
Murauchi.com from the 19th position to a staggering 3rd, slashing their LCP from 1.241 seconds to merely 0.979 seconds, marking an impressive speed enhancement. Similarly,
Ito Yokado’s net shopping platform notably ascended from 56th to 10th place, demonstrating extensive improvements in LCP, INP (Input Delay), and TTFB (Time to First Byte).
Focus on Core Web Vitals and New Metrics
Among these,
Ito Yokado's net shopping site shattered its previous scores by registering an INP of just
0.072 seconds, soaring to the top after a previous 48th position with 0.13 seconds. Their leap in LCP from 56th to 10th illustrates a comprehensive improvement in both visual rendering and user interface responsiveness. This suggests a holistic optimization in the overall user experience.
The advancements made by these companies stem from several key initiatives, including:
- - Optimization of JavaScript execution.
- - Efficiency improvement for event handlers.
- - Enhancements in rendering performance.
Thus, while LCP remains a critical target, the importance of continuously improving INP has also come to light.
