Exhibition Details
Section I: "Japan World's Expo 1970–2005"
This section will revisit the enthusiasm and aspirations surrounding the
1970 Osaka Expo and outline the journey of Japan's previous five World Expositions. Key visuals will include explanatory panels, maps, aerial photographs, and blueprints from past exhibitions, particularly those showcased during the Culture Agency’s earlier events.
Section II: Bright Lives in Modernity - Creativity of the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo
A closer examination of architectural designs and spatial arrangements at the Osaka Kansai Expo will be featured here. Visitors will engage with three types of content, including a showcase of architectural plans exhibited at previous Cultural Agency events, such as canopies, pavilions, lounges, toilets, and satellite studios. Design plans for pavilions managed by the
2025 Japan World Expo Association, along with temporary structures, will be presented, mimicking the venue's symbolic
wooden canopy ring for a cohesive visual experience.
Section III: The Future of Architecture as envisioned by Children
A colorful display of creativity will highlight artworks created by children during previous Cultural Agency events at the Osaka Kansai Expo. At the forefront is a remarkable
10-meter artwork, collaboratively completed by renowned artists
Star Shimura from Los Angeles and
J. Hayun Shuroumi, which invited nearly
100 children to add colors to this visionary urban landscape. Additionally, approximately
40 paintings created by the children will be curated by contemporary artist
Kengo Kito, known for his vibrant installations. This section will delve into the thoughts and visions of the children regarding the
"Future City," promoting a perspective full of hope.
Furthermore, videos showcasing workshop activities conducted during the event will be screened in the lobby, allowing visitors to engage with the creative process.
In summary, the exhibition invites individuals to not only witness a historical overview but also immerse in a hopeful narrative concerning the future of architecture and environmental sustainability through the eyes of the upcoming generation.
