Inbound Guests Captivated by Kitpas Spring Art at Tokyo Bay Prince Hotel

Celebrating Spring with Kitpas at Tokyo Bay Prince Hotel

The Tokyo Bay Prince Hotel recently hosted a captivating live drawing event, showcasing the beauty of Japan's spring through the artistry of Kitpas. On March 14-15, 2026, Matsunaga Masae, an acclaimed artist, transformed the hotel's entrance lobby window into a stunning canvas, evoking the seasonal charm of Edo-period Japan.

The event, titled Ranman, highlighted traditional Japanese elements with a dynamic representation of Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms, utilizing Kitpas, a unique drawing tool made from rice wax. This eco-friendly material can be easily wiped off glass and mirrors, making it a popular choice among artists and guests alike. The live drawing drew significant attention from international visitors, who praised the vibrant colors and the overall artistic experience.

The Art of Ranman

This fourth installment of the Kitpas window art series, which began in 2025, centered around the theme of “Edo x Tokyo Spring.” Matsunaga's creative process aimed to convey the joy and energy of spring through her artwork. The artist expressed: "I wanted to present the beauty of Japanese spring to our overseas guests, using cherry blossoms and Edo-inspired designs. The vivid colors of Kitpas complemented traditional gradients beautifully, which amazed many guests."

Throughout the event, visitors were invited to watch as Matsunaga brought her vision to life. The combination of flat art with the three-dimensional presence of seasonal plants in the lobby created an immersive spring atmosphere, enhancing the hotel's ambiance.

Guest Reactions

During the live drawing, numerous overseas guests stopped to engage with the art, capturing the moment through photos and videos. Comments from attendees included:
  • - "Thank you for this artistic representation of Japan!" - Family from the USA.
  • - "I’m so glad to see such beautiful cherry blossom art before returning home just before the actual blooms! The quality of Japanese stationery, including Kitpas, is exceptional and I find it very fascinating." - Tourist from Singapore.

Participants were particularly impressed by Kitpas's safety and ease of use, with one mother noting, "I was amazed to learn it’s made from rice wax and can be easily washed off the glass! I would have loved to join a workshop if there was one."

The Significance of Kitpas

This live art collaboration demonstrated Kitpas's successful branding capabilities. By visually sharing Japan's unique culture and seasonal beauty, it enhances the experience for international visitors. Moreover, the safe and child-friendly nature of the Kitpas product appeals strongly to families, further driving engagement and enjoyment.
