On June 29, 2025, a new culinary gem will grace the vibrant Nihonbashi Hamacho area: Occitanial. Operated by Anje Co., Ltd., this delightful French patisserie aims to continue its legacy of serving exquisite sweets that have captured hearts since its inception in 2008.
A Journey of Sweetness
Originating in 2008, Occitanial quickly became a favorite among dessert lovers. Its flagship store in Tokyo, established in 2014, boasts a delectable array of traditional French pastries, skillfully crafted with high-quality techniques and a distinct aesthetic. Chefs and patrons alike have praised the patisserie's beautiful confections, which have remained a staple in the Tokyo dessert scene for over a decade.
Chef Kazutaka Nakayama, who has led Occitanial since 2015, is known for his impressive accolades, including being the captain of the Japanese team that secured the runner-up position at the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie. His remarkable journey began as a pastry chef at Club Harie, and he has since won numerous prestigious awards, establishing himself as a formidable talent in the world of pastry arts.
In Nakayama's own words:
“I want to create a space where guests can relive the joy I felt as a child making sweets and sharing them with my family. I want to dazzle our customers with vibrantly colored cakes in our showcase.”
