Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Receives Prestigious Environmental Award
Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, has been awarded the Minister of Agriculture Award for Green Conservation Achievements for the fiscal year 2025. This recognition commemorates the company's extensive efforts in forest conservation and its strong commitment to environmental education.
Over the years, Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan has actively engaged in conservation initiatives particularly in forest areas surrounding their factories in Saga Prefecture. In 2006, they signed a contract with the Kyushu Forest Management Bureau focusing on “Corporate Forests,” which led to the enhancement of public forests in Ishimachi, Tosu City. Additionally, in 2018, they partnered with Saga Prefecture, Tosu City, Kiyama Town, and the Saga Eastern Forest Management Association to establish a cooperative agreement aimed at conserving the forests of the Chikugo River watershed, further demonstrating their dedication to water resource preservation in collaboration with local communities.
As a fundamental part of these conservation efforts, the company initiated a series of nature experiences, known as the Coca-Cola “Learning from the Forest” Project, starting in 2006. Celebrate the 20th anniversary of this project, it has provided opportunities for local communities to engage in hands-on activities such as thinning and planting, along with natural observation and woodworking. These experiential programs educate participants about the essential roles forests play in water resource cultivation and the preservation of biodiversity. Since its inception in 2006, the project has remained a consistent element in promoting water conservation efforts deeply rooted in the Saga community.
Such long-term dedication to environmental stewardship has also earned Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan recognition as a “Distinguished Contributor to Forestry, Forestry Industry, and Greening” at the Saga Prefecture Forestry Awards in 2025. Successfully fusing their philanthropic spirit with corporate responsibility, the company aims to inspire others and continue to lead in environmental conservation.
Looking ahead, Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan is committed to further strengthening its partnership with local communities to enhance their initiatives in water resource conservation, showcasing a sustainable future through collaboration and education.
Under the guidance of the department head of Saga’s Forestry Division, the award was presented to Masaki Yanai, Manufacturing Department Head of the Kyushu Factory within Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan. This ceremony underscores the importance of cooperative efforts in environmental preservation and the impact businesses can have in ensuring a sustainable future.
