Neste's renewable diesel will replace conventional fossil fuels in powering generators and heating, minimizing the expedition's climate footprint.

Equipped with six laboratories, the Tara Polar Station aims to monitor various aspects of the Arctic ecosystem, focusing on its unique biodiversity. As the ocean absorbs about 30% of global carbon dioxide emissions and captures 90% of excess heat, its condition is paramount for global climate stability.

The Journey Begins



The Tara Polar Station embarked on its journey toward the Arctic from its home port in Lorient, France, on July 19. After a scheduled stop in Dordrecht, the Netherlands, for refueling with nearly 90,000 liters of Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, the station will continue its path to Norway before entering the Arctic region in mid-August.
