Shereta Williams Appointed EVP of Growth Operations at Cox Enterprises

Cox Enterprises has recently appointed Shereta Williams as the Executive Vice President of Growth Operations, marking a significant step in the company's strategic diversification efforts. In her new role, Williams is set to oversee all of Cox Enterprises' majority-owned businesses outside of its core operations, namely Cox Communications and Cox Automotive. This strategic appointment reflects the company's commitment to expanding its reach into new industries such as cleantech, sustainable agriculture, digital media, and public sector software.

Dallas Clement, the president and CFO of Cox Enterprises, praised Williams for her pivotal role in facilitating Cox's growth strategy. He emphasized her unique ability to merge innovation with practical execution, which he views as crucial for the company’s diversification path. According to Clement, Williams' vision and extensive experience will guide the company as it explores new opportunities for growth.

Cox Enterprises has been actively diversifying beyond its traditional sectors over the past few years. This strategy has led the company to make substantial investments in digital media and technology, highlighted by its acquisition of Axios, a notable player in the digital media arena, and OpenGov, a frontrunner in cloud-based solutions for the public sector.

Additionally, the company has made strides in sustainable agriculture through the establishment of Cox Farms, which has emerged as the largest greenhouse operator in North America, covering more than 700 acres. Williams played an integral role in these advancements, which illustrate Cox’s dedication to investing in industries that are critical to future growth and sustainability.

Reflecting on her new role, Williams expressed her pride in continuing Cox's legacy of innovation and community engagement. She stated, “Cox has a unique ability to create opportunities that drive business success while making a positive impact in the communities we serve. I look forward to advancing this work and supporting our talented teams as we shape the future together.”

Shereta Williams boasts a wealth of experience, having joined Cox Enterprises in 1998. Over the years, she has occupied a variety of positions within strategy, corporate development, and operations, demonstrating her adaptability and expertise in different sectors of the company, including Cox Television and Cox Media Group. She also has experience outside Cox, having served as the managing director of the currency division for Maven Funds, a startup hedge fund based in Atlanta. Williams started her career in investment banking at Lazard Frères, gaining valuable experience in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and public offerings.

An electrical engineer by training, Williams earned her degree from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T). Moreover, she currently serves on the board of directors for Daktronics, Inc., and Food Well Alliance—a nonprofit organization focused on providing resources to local growers and fostering healthier communities.

The transition to her new role comes at a time when Cox Enterprises continues to advance its commitment to responsible business practices, environmental sustainability, and social impact. With an annual revenue of approximately $23 billion and a proud history spanning over 125 years, Cox Enterprises remains dedicated to empowering its employees and the communities it serves.

Through this strategic leadership change, Cox Enterprises aims not only to enhance its business model but also to strengthen its social responsibility initiatives, ultimately driving long-term growth and innovation in an ever-evolving marketplace.
