An Exciting Day of Learning and Fun at CodeCampKIDS
On February 11, 2026, CodeCampKIDS, a programming school for elementary and middle school students, will host an extraordinary workshop in collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). This unique event will focus on creating and battling robots, allowing kids to dive into the world of programming in a fun and engaging way.
Founded by Rika Kawanishi and based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, CodeCampKIDS aims to provide education in programming using state-of-the-art tools and platforms. For this workshop, the team has invited Akira Tanaka, a developer of the innovative robot toy, toio. Since the launch of the original PlayStation® in 1994, SIE has been dedicated to delivering innovative gaming experiences worldwide and has also been at the forefront of developing educational tools such as toio.
Workshop Overview
The upcoming workshop will challenge participants to design their original robots and participate in thrilling robot sumo battles. Attendees will use their creativity to build the robots' exteriors from paper crafts while simultaneously utilizing the capabilities of toio in programming their machines for battle. Each participant will have the opportunity to create special moves for their robot, culminating in a showdown where everyone presents their creations and competes in a battle tournament.
In addition to the hands-on robot activities, the workshop will feature a special lecture where Akira Tanaka shares insights about the development of toio, providing a deeper understanding of the technology behind this exciting tool. The event promises to be enjoyable and educational, making it a perfect introduction to programming for beginners.
