KuCoin Partners with Global Organizations for Humanitarian Relief in Sumatra
In a significant move to address urgent humanitarian needs, KuCoin has partnered with Yayasan Srikandi Merah Putih, Global CSR Foundation, and the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) to support the 'A Matter of Dignity - Sumatra Relief Initiative.' This initiative aims to deliver essential resources to communities affected by disaster in Aceh and Medan, Indonesia.
On February 6, 2026, a symbolic handover event took place where representatives from KuCoin and the Global CSR Foundation presented relief packages to H. Teuku Badruddin Syah, the Sultan of Aceh. This set the stage for the distribution of 5,000 menstrual hygiene kits, alongside vital medications and fresh food supplies. The primary aim is to respond to the crises by addressing the inherent dignity and health needs of women, who are disproportionately affected during disasters.
“A Matter of Dignity” focuses on ensuring that not only are the communities supported quickly, but that the assistance is grounded in respect and obligation. Aurelly Syifalia Widihartanto, co-founder of Yayasan Srikandi Merah Putih, stated, “It’s critical for us to ensure basic health needs are met, especially for women during these trying times.”
The initiative is reinforced by a robust collaboration led by Dr. Padmini Murthy, AMWA’s Global Health Director, and Jing Zhao Cesarone, founder of the Global CSR Foundation. With prior implementations in regions like the Bahamas and Suriname, they aim to adapt their successful model to the Indonesian context through Yayasan Srikandi, under the guidance of Vice President Stefanny Florina.
KuCoin’s contributions toward the acquisition and timely shipment of menstrual hygiene kits are spearheaded by Sylvie Dong, the Global Director of CSR and HR at KuCoin. She expressed the company’s commitment to corporate responsibility, stating, “It’s essential to take concrete actions that assist communities impacted by disasters.” KuCoin’s ongoing support for CSR initiatives focuses on addressing tangible needs and making significant contributions on the ground.
Distribution efforts in Aceh and Medan are coordinated by Maha Medicare, who has been actively involved in aiding communities traumatized by recent floods since December. In addition to local leaders, this initiative has garnered national support, signified by the engagement of officials such as Agustina Hastarini, the spouse of Indonesia’s Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. This endorsement not only emphasizes the project's local commitment but also highlights a broader governmental dedication to humanitarian and inter-sectoral action.
Notably, several Indonesian public figures have also thrown their weight behind the initiative. Their platforms amplify the focus on women’s health, essential access to care, and emphasizing dignity in disaster response. Prominent actors including Baim Wong, Rianti Cartwright, and many others are advocating for the cause, spreading awareness about the critical need for resources among affected communities.
The formal launch of the initiative took place during an intimate press dinner titled 'A Matter of Dignity,' held at Sushi Maru Hang Tuah in Jakarta. The event attracted leaders from various sectors, including foundations, government representatives, medical experts, corporate executives, and media professionals, all advocates for equitable humanitarian efforts.
Post-distribution documentation, verified impact reports, and visual materials from Aceh and Medan will be accessible to the media following the initiative's rollout. This approach highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in the humanitarian sector.
