Mazda Teams Up with AdventHealth and Jostens to Support Women in Motorsports Through the SHEro Award
Celebrating Women in Motorsports: The SHEro Award
The third annual SHEro Award, organized by Women in Motorsports North America (WIMNA), is officially underway, with Mazda joining AdventHealth and Jostens as presenting sponsors. This program, first launched in 2023, aims to recognize and celebrate women who have made significant contributions to the motorsports industry, paving the way for future female leaders. With 36 exceptional women already honored in the past two years, the SHEro Award continues to grow, inspiring an entire generation of women looking to enter the field.
A Tribute to Impactful Women
Each year, a distinguished panel selects a national SHEro Award recipient from multiple nominees. This year, the winner will be celebrated at WIMNA's Women with Drive Summit, which is set to take place from December 8 to 10 in Indianapolis. The 2025 nominees will be recognized not just for their accomplishments but also for their individual stories of resilience and determination.
Jostens, known for crafting awards for major motorsports organizations, has been involved with the SHEro Award since its inception and is eager to honor the next wave of nominees. Curt Bruns, representing Jostens, expressed excitement about meeting the new contenders and hearing their inspiring stories, emphasizing their commitment to celebrating female achievements in motorsports.
AdventHealth has also made its mark as a presenting sponsor since 2024, advocating for women's empowerment within the motorsports community. Last year's nominee, Dr. Audrey Gregory, showcased her passion for inclusivity and leadership by creating opportunities for women both on and off the track, partnering with NASCAR and launching nursing rooms at Daytona International Speedway. Dr. Gregory noted how the SHEro Award highlights the grit and talent of women, reinforcing her belief in the importance of recognition for breaking barriers in the industry.
Mazda's Commitment to Diversity
Joining as a new supporter for 2025, Mazda has demonstrated its deep-rooted dedication to promoting women in motorsports through various initiatives like the Mazda MX-5 Cup and Spec MX-5 Shootout. Mazda proudly announced a donation of $25,000 to support the SHEro Award, an act highlighted during a segment on Good Morning America that promoted their Prime Video docuseries, “First to the Finish.” Jonathan Applegate, Senior Manager at Mazda Motorsports North America, reiterated the company's commitment to empowering women across the motorsport landscape and fostering future leaders.
How to Nominate a SHEro
The nomination process is now open for those looking to honor a deserving woman — whether she is part of a team, an official, a professional, or even a volunteer. Submissions can be made online and include a $200 fee that goes toward a customized SHEro trophy created by Jostens, with profits helping fund WIMNA’s programs. Nominations will be accepted until October 31, 2025, with an opportunity for the winner to enjoy complimentary registration at the Women with Drive Summit, paid travel, accommodations, and a speaking opportunity to share her journey.
