Ace Hardware and VFW Honor Fallen Heroes with Memorial Day Flag Distribution

As Memorial Day approaches, the spirit of remembrance and gratitude fills the air across communities in the United States. Continuing a heartfelt tradition, Ace Hardware, the world's largest hardware cooperative, has teamed up with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to honor our fallen military heroes through their annual flag giveaway. This year, they are set to distribute one million American flags at participating Ace stores nationwide on Saturday, May 23.

The initiative is aimed at fostering community spirit and honoring the sacrifices made by those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The first 240 customers at each participating store will receive a complimentary 8" x 12" American flag. In a gesture of solidarity and tribute, for every flag given out, another will be donated to local VFW Posts, ensuring that veterans' graves are appropriately decorated for Memorial Day.

Over the past eight years, this collaboration has successfully distributed over 8 million flags, serving as a poignant reminder of the bravery and dedication of America’s service members. "Memorial Day is a time for communities to come together in memory of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country," expressed Kim Lefko, Chief Marketing Officer of Ace Hardware. "We are honored to continue this tradition with the VFW, helping families and neighbors pay tribute in a simple but meaningful way, while ensuring the sacrifices of our nation's heroes are remembered."

Carol Whitmore, VFW National Commander, added, "This initiative is about so much more than just distributing the symbol of our nation; it is about ensuring that the true meaning of Memorial Day is visible in every neighborhood across America. The VFW is proud to work alongside Ace Hardware to help Americans honor the legacy of military service and sacrifice, one flag at a time."

Getting involved is simple. Customers can visit their local Ace Hardware store to take advantage of this opportunity. Furthermore, Ace Hardware encourages everyone to be part of this meaningful tribute, embodying the spirit of Memorial Day by displaying flags in their homes and neighborhoods. This act not only honors those who have fallen but also inspires pride and remembrance within communities.

In a fast-paced world, such initiatives remind us of the significance of taking a moment to reflect and honor the lives of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The collaboration between Ace Hardware and the VFW showcases how local businesses can impact their communities positively, especially during moments that require unity and remembrance.
