Veterans Guardian Supports Federal Initiative for Trucking Careers for Veterans

Veterans Guardian, a prominent VA Claims Consulting firm, has voiced its backing for a newly announced initiative aimed at aiding veterans in securing jobs within the trucking sector. Known as Freedom Haulers, this interagency project was unveiled recently by President Donald Trump in an effort to bolster America’s supply chains by providing better employment opportunities for former and disabled service members.

The Freedom Haulers initiative represents a collaborative effort among several U.S. departments, including Transportation, Veterans Affairs, Labor, and War. This initiative is designed not only to facilitate veterans' access to commercial driver’s licenses but also to simplify the process involved in obtaining training for commercial vehicle operation.

One of the key features of the Freedom Haulers initiative is the provision of free commercial driver training for veterans who have served at least 36 months, with funding covered by their VA education benefits. Furthermore, those veterans who have gained practical heavy vehicle driving experience during their time in active duty will have the opportunity to apply for a waiver for the skills test, which can often be a challenging requirement.

Scott Greenblatt, the founder and CEO of Veterans Guardian, expressed his thoughts on how significant this program could be in transitioning veterans back into civilian life. A retired Army lieutenant colonel himself, Greenblatt accrued 25 years of active duty service and understands firsthand the dual desires of many veterans: to reclaim the benefits they've earned and to re-enter the workforce. He reaffirmed that the Freedom Haulers program addresses both of these fundamental needs and pushes veterans forward in their career paths.

"Every veteran I talk to wants the same two things after they take off the uniform: to get the benefits they've earned in exchange for their sacrifices to America and to get back to work," said Greenblatt. He believes that the systematic support provided through this federal initiative will play a vital role in helping veterans find fulfilling careers.

Greenblatt also emphasized the importance of employers being open-minded about hiring disabled veterans. He commented, "A disability rating documents what someone gave up in service; it is not a judgement on what they can and cannot do." He highlighted that Veterans Guardian works daily with veterans who hold disability ratings while balancing successful careers, proving that such veterans can be some of the best talents an employer can find.

Veterans Guardian, which is situated in Pinehurst, North Carolina, distinguishes itself by being veteran-owned, with over 75% of its workforce comprising veterans or military spouses. The firm has received accolades for its commitment to veteran employment, including the Department of Labor’s Platinum HIRE Vets Medallion Award since 2020.
