Activate Launches Live-Action Gaming Experience in Norway and Sweden as Part of Nordic Expansion

Activate's Breakthrough in the Nordic Gaming Scene

In an exhilarating development, Activate, renowned as the world's first live-action gaming experience, has made its official entry into the Nordic markets with new locations now operational in Oslo, Norway, and Gothenburg, Sweden. This strategic expansion not only highlights Activate's rapid growth but also sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment in the region.

Located in the vibrant Snøbyen district just outside Oslo, the Norwegian venue spans a whopping 798 square meters. It features nine immersive game rooms that host over 800 interactive challenges, each designed to captivate and engage players fully. Meanwhile, the Gothenburg location, housed in the bustling Nordstan Shopping Centre, covers 733 square meters and mirrors its Norwegian counterpart with nine equally thrilling game rooms. The opening of these locations follows the recent debut of Activate’s first Nordic venue in Helsinki, Finland, which opened its doors last month, marking a significant start to this expansion endeavor.

Both venues showcase popular game modes such as Mega Grid, Laser, and Hide, creating a uniquely engaging atmosphere. The experiences are tailored for teams of two to five players, with sessions lasting either 60 or 90 minutes, seamlessly blending physical activity, strategic thinking, and teamwork.

Adam Schmidt, Co-Founder and CEO of Activate Games, expressed enthusiasm regarding this endeavor, stating, "We built Activate to create a global gaming network that brings people together through play. Thanks to our partnership with Realinvest, we're delivering a next-generation interactive entertainment experience unlike anything else in the region. We’re ecstatic to welcome Sweden and Norway into our growing global Activate community."

The critical role of Realinvest, a leading Scandinavian real estate and investment firm, cannot be understated. Håvard Olstad, CEO of Activate Games Scandinavia, shared his excitement about the initial reception, noting, "We are extremely happy with how we have been received in the Nordics. Our opening weekends have been fully booked and the feedback from our guests has been nothing short of amazing."

Founded in Canada back in 2019, Activate quickly grew to fame as a social media sensation due to its inventive approach to in-person gaming. The platform utilizes RFID technology to track each player’s performance over time, allowing users to level up, earn rewards, and achieve unlockable achievements. This progressive method ensures endless replayability, making every visit a fresh experience.

With over 70 locations currently operational worldwide, Activate is on target to open an additional 30 sites in 2026. Among these, five new venues are slated to be established in collaboration with Realinvest throughout the Nordic region, including anticipated openings in Stockholm (Sweden), Copenhagen (Denmark), and Burgan (Norway).
