Persol Career's New Headquarters Fosters Collaboration and Creativity in the Workplace

A New Era for Persol Career: Embracing Collaboration in Their Azabudai Headquarters

In October 2024, Persol Career Co., Ltd., renowned for its job placement services, such as "doda," relocated to a new headquarters in Azabudai, Tokyo. This office not only symbolizes the company's growth but has also earned the prestigious "Promotion Award" and "Creative Office Award" at the 38th Nikkei New Office Awards. This annual event, organized by the Nikkei Inc. and the New Office Promotion Association, celebrates innovative office designs that promote and encourage the concept of the "New Office."

The award ceremony on September 4, 2025, was attended by the company’s president, Hiroshi Seno, along with three members from the Strategic General Affairs Department who led the move. Their participation highlighted the collaborative efforts made in relocating to their new space.

With a commitment to creating an environment conducive to growth and interaction, Hiroshi Seno emphasized that the new office embodies the voices and aspirations of its employees. He noted that the spontaneous conversations and collaborations occurring within the new office are critical to developing novel services and work methodologies, fostering unexpected connections and exchanges. This recognition is a testament to the support of employees, stakeholders, and the many visitors who frequent the space, as the company strives to continue envisioning the future of work from this new location.

A New Beginning After 22 Years

The relocation marks the first time in 22 years that Persol Career has moved its headquarters. Over this period, the company has expanded its workforce from approximately 2,000 to around 7,000 employees. This move aims to consolidate its previously dispersed sales departments for both corporate and individual services, fostering inter-departmental discussions and co-creation.

During the time of the last relocation in 2002, a traditional work structure prevailed, requiring all employees to be present in the office. However, the contemporary workplace now embraces diverse working styles, including shortened hours and flexible arrangements. The design of the new office caters to this diversity, encouraging employees to utilize their unique strengths in a flexible setting.

Innovative Office Design

To advance the company’s mission of empowering individuals to take ownership of their work, the office design was crafted through extensive employee feedback. The guiding theme of the new office is "Give Power - the place to gain, share and enhance OUR power." This vision aims for the office to be a nurturing ground for growth and collaboration, which is reflected in the layout across four key themes:

1. Open Lounge: Equipped with audiovisual facilities for seminars and events, this space features wall art created by the artist Helabony. The entrance showcases pieces created through workshops involving artists and employees, visually representing the company's mission.

2. Café Area: A staffed café offers light meals and drinks, encouraging community-building and social interactions among employees. This space is ideal for post-work gatherings, allowing employees to unwind while enjoying scenic views.

3. Collaboration Areas: These spaces encourage spontaneous discussions and meetings across different departments. With flexible furniture arrangements like semi-private rooms and open layouts, employees can easily engage with one another.

4. Workspaces: Every department is equipped with free address seating, allowing staff to choose spaces conducive to their tasks, whether focused solo work or collaborative sessions in theatre-style meeting rooms that accommodate both business and personal interests.

Positive Impact on Company Culture

Employee Feedback

Since the move, employees have noted several improvements in productivity and workplace collaboration. Comments reflect that the flexibility in choosing work locations has enhanced productivity, facilitated casual discussions leading to innovative ideas, and increased opportunities for socializing and relationship-building through events and gatherings.

Post-move Survey Results

Surveys conducted after the relocation reveal heightened satisfaction across the board. Employees appreciate improved communication and collaboration, as well as being able to showcase their skills in a supportive environment that fosters teamwork.

Practical Application of the New Office

Real Matching Events for Freelancers

The new headquarters served as the venue for matching freelancers and companies through events, such as the "HiPro" initiative, connecting local startups with potential new hires.

Increased Opportunities for Learning and Networking

The centralization of various sales departments has increased opportunities for career advisors and recruitment advisors to conduct workshops and networking events, promoting collaboration across different job roles.

Space for Community Engagement

The office has also become a hub for cross-sector events, such as well-being initiatives for women and seminars sponsored by Suntory, fostering valuable partnerships and shared insights among different companies.

In conclusion, Persol Career's new Azabudai headquarters not only reflects the company’s growth over the years but also embodies its commitment to innovation and collaboration, setting the stage for a vibrant and dynamic work culture that is ready to tackle future challenges.
