Future Minerals Forum Concludes with Historic Agreements Worth $26.6 Billion and Record Attendance
The Future Minerals Forum (FMF), held from January 13 to 15, 2026, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh, marked a significant milestone in the mining industry. With a record attendance of 21,500 participants, the event attracted key players, including investment executives, leaders from major mining companies, and technical experts from around the world.
The forum was a hub of activity, resulting in the signing of 132 agreements and memoranda of understanding, totaling an impressive $26.6 billion. These agreements covered a wide array of crucial aspects such as exploration, mining operations, financing, research and development, and sustainability, all aiming to enhance the global mining supply chain.
In his closing remarks, His Excellency Bandar Alkhorayef, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, emphasized that the unprecedented momentum showcased at this forum reflects progress throughout the global mining ecosystem. He noted the rapid evolution of the FMF in just five years, evolving into a vital platform for collective concerns and fostering year-round collaboration.
The focus on technological advancement was prominent, with Alkhorayef highlighting that genuine progress is intrinsically linked to faster implementation of mining technologies. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's initiatives to reform the legal framework and enhance the investment climate were evident. Streamlining processes, updating regulations, and making geological data easily accessible were pivotal steps aimed at attracting partners along the entire supply chain.
Over three days, more than 450 speakers, including ministers, government representatives, and industry experts, discussed key topics such as investment partnerships, community development, emerging mining projects, AI-driven decision-making, and the integration of local economies into the mining value chain.
The international exhibition accompanying the forum showcased 274 exhibitors and featured 13 official country pavilions from nations including Australia, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, Sudan, and Mauritania. The exhibition was organized into four key segments: heavy machinery and equipment, cutting-edge technologies, major global enterprises, and junior exploration companies.
The FMF, launched in 2022, has quickly established itself as a cornerstone platform for the mining industry globally, uniting governments, international organizations, and stakeholders to shape the industry's future. Through ministerial dialogues, conferences, and exhibitions, the forum promotes innovations and collaboration toward a sustainable mining future.
In conclusion, the 2026 Future Minerals Forum not only broke attendance records but also set a new standard for industry collaboration and sustainable practices, positioning the mining sector on a trajectory of innovation and growth in the years to come.
