A Special Culinary Journey in Ehime at Torafuku

From now until July 15, 2025, Torafuku, a restaurant known for its seasonal dishes and delicious cooked rice, is hosting a fair celebrating the traditional cuisine of Ehime, utilizing fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Under the leadership of Chairwoman and CEO Sachiko Asano, the restaurant emphasizes regional flavors, particularly those from Ehime.

Located in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Torafuku has a rich history of promoting Japanese regional specialties. Beginning with its Mie Fair in November 2009, the restaurant has traveled through various prefectures, including Wakayama, Iwate, Hokkaido, Kumamoto, Fukuoka, and Akita, delighting patrons with local dishes paired with selected sake and shochu. Now, it’s time for the spotlight to shine on Ehime!

The Essence of Ehime Cuisine

The Ehime Fair invites diners to savor mouth-watering dishes made from local ingredients such as sea bream (madai), pike conger (hamo), and Matsuyama chicken (Matsuyama-dori). The setting of rich natural resources, with its coastline from the Seto Inland Sea to Uwa Sea and a warm climate, fosters the production of Ehime's renowned food.

  • - Pike Conger (Hamo): A delicacy in Ehime, known for its mild yet umami flavor, highly sought after by food enthusiasts.
  • - Matsuyama Chicken (Matsuyama-dori): A signature breed in Ehime, known for its tender meat without strong gaminess, raised in designated farms throughout the region.
