Hyundai's Concept THREE: A New Era in Compact Electric Vehicles for Europe

Hyundai Motor Unveils Concept THREE at IAA Mobility 2025

At the premier automotive event, IAA Mobility 2025 held in Munich, Hyundai Motor Company introduced its much-anticipated Concept THREE. This marks the brand's venture into compact electric vehicles (EV), underlining its commitment to electrification and sustainability.

Hyundai’s Vision for the Future

The Concept THREE is a pinnacle of Hyundai's innovative approach to electric mobility, designed under the IONIQ sub-brand. It signifies a significant strategic move as the market for compact EVs continues to surge, driven by urbanization and environmental consciousness. With this launch, Hyundai aims to capture the hearts of consumers seeking practicality and emotional connection in their driving experiences.

Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, expressed the importance of this launch, stating, "Concept THREE represents the next step in Hyundai Motor's electrification journey. With its compact dimensions and Art of Steel design language, it embodies our vision of delivering mobility that is practical, accessible and emotionally resonant."

Design Highlights

The Concept THREE is designed utilizing the 'Art of Steel', a distinctive design language that emphasizes the beauty and functionality of steel. The vehicle features:
  • - Aero Hatch Profile: Designed for aerodynamic efficiency with a vertical tailgate that supports urban versatility.
  • - Parametric Pixel Lighting: An expressive lighting feature that creates a gradient effect, enhancing visual appeal.
  • - Sustainable Materials: Incorporating ocean waste textiles and lightweight aluminum foam, reflecting Hyundai's commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining a premium aesthetic.

The cabin is equally remarkable, showcasing a serene design characterized by soft colors and customizable experiences through modular 'Bring Your Own Lifestyle (BYOL)' widgets. An engaging character, “Mr. Pix,” adds fun interactions within the vehicle, making it a standout choice for younger consumers.

Hyundai’s Electrification Roadmap in Europe

Hyundai's engagement in the European market extends beyond the Concept THREE. By 2027, the company plans to electrify every model in Europe and unveil 21 global EV models by 2030. This strategic initiative underscores Europe’s significance as a hub for innovation and sustainable mobility solutions, shaped by advanced environmental policies and diverse consumer desires.

The company also emphasizes hydrogen fuel cell technology as a clean energy solution for future mobility, further enhancing its electrification roadmap. Hyundai's manufacturing commitment is evident, with nearly 80% of the vehicles sold being locally produced, allowing customization to suit regional needs.

IAA Mobility 2025 Experience

Hyundai Motor's engagement at IAA Mobility 2025, its first appearance in four years, is designed to foster deeper connections with consumers. Hyundai's booth stands out, measuring 58 meters wide and featuring six large glass pixels, which reflect the company’s dedication to innovation and emotive design. The open space allows for interactive exhibitions, including live test drives of several models, such as the IONIQ 9 and INSTER, providing visitors an immersive experience of their electrified lineup.

Overall, Hyundai Motor's efforts at IAA Mobility 2025 not only showcase the innovative Concept THREE but also represent a broader commitment to leading in the electric vehicle market. As the company continues to develop models that meet safety, efficiency, and consumer expectations, it reinforces its position as a leader in the electrification journey, adeptly addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the evolving automotive landscape.
