TGI Fridays® Expands International Presence

TGI Fridays®, an iconic American dining brand, is set to accelerate its global ventures with substantial franchise agreements that promise to open over 100 new restaurants across India and Mexico. This initiative comes through collaborations with USR Hospitality in India and Mid-City Operadora Sapi de CV (MCO-Mexico), reflecting the brand's expanding footprint on the international stage.

A Major Step in India

The agreement with USR Hospitality is particularly noteworthy, as it includes plans to establish 51 new locations throughout India. This partnership features John Neitzel, who previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer of TGI Fridays®, now working with USR Hospitality to spearhead expansion efforts. Prasoon Mukherjee, Chairman of USR, expressed enthusiasm about leading the brand's growth in India, emphasizing Neitzel's proven track record and expertise in the restaurant industry.

The franchise will see TGI Fridays® opening locations in various settings, including high streets, malls, and airports, which will allow travelers to enjoy the famed Fridays experience while on the go. This strategic placement aims to tap into the growing consumer market in India, catering to those who seek celebration-driven dining experiences.

Strengthening Ties in Mexico

In Mexico, TGI Fridays® has also entered an exciting partnership with MCO-Mexico, committing to open 50 new restaurants across the country. Alvaro Traconis, the CEO and Founder of MCO-Mexico, shared plans to introduce the brand's lively dining ambiance to every corner of the nation by establishing flagship restaurants in all 32 state capitals and major cities. In addition to restaurant openings, the company intends to develop training centers and collaborate with new suppliers to ensure the authentic Fridays experience reaches a wider audience.

A Vision for Growth

Phil Broad, President of TGI Fridays® International Franchising, commented on the brand’s ability to connect with people seeking celebrations. He noted that such strategic partnerships with experienced operators are pivotal in driving growth. Broad passionately conveyed that the brand stays relevant and appealing to global customers looking for memorable dining experiences that TGI Fridays® uniquely provides.

The recent international agreements are supplemented by ownership transitions in the Philippines and Spain, solidifying TGI Fridays®' commitment to fostering alliances with capable operators in diverse markets. In the Philippines, ownership has transitioned to the Bistro Americano Group, continuing the development partnership that aims to grow to over 40 locations. Meanwhile, Yellowstone Capital, S.L now oversees operations in Spain, allowing the brand to maintain its presence across Europe.
