In the aftermath of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which struck on January 1, 2024, many local businesses, including long-established sake breweries, faced dire challenges. One such brewery, Kazuma Shuzou in Noto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, is continuing its commitment to sake-making despite the significant damage caused by the natural disaster. To assist in their recovery and bring awareness to their situation, UPDATER Co., Ltd., located in Setagaya, Tokyo, has launched an exciting initiative for 2025.

The Project Overview


The initiative involves gathering support from 50 restaurants in the Kanto region to serve 'Chikuha Noto Junmai' sake. This project aims to provide a unique opportunity for customers to enjoy delicious sake while reflecting on the challenges faced by the affected brewery. By presenting 'Chikuha' on their menus, participating restaurants can help spread awareness of the ongoing recovery efforts in Noto and the resilience of its people.

Starting from June 12, 2025, restaurants are invited to register for this meaningful cooperation, where each establishment will be offered a complimentary bottle of 'Chikuha Noto Junmai' sake (1800 ml). The hope is to have each restaurant start serving this sake from June 30, 2025, onwards.

While Kazuma Shuzou, along with numerous others, has been struggling to maintain operations due to damages, we believe many people are unaware of the brewery's current situation. The initiative’s total cost will be absorbed by UPDATER, emphasizing that successful participation relies on the goodwill of the restaurants involved. While providing sake to customers is recommended to be complimentary, each restaurant can make its pricing decisions.
