Five Innovative Projects from the GARAGE Program at 100BANCH
100BANCH, an experimental hub designed to enrich the world for the next generation, has welcomed five exciting projects as part of the 106th cohort of the GARAGE Program. This initiative is aimed at empowering young leaders under the age of 35 to create positive societal changes through innovative experiments. These projects focus on essential areas such as family support and mobility for individuals with disabilities. Let’s take a closer look at these pioneering endeavors:
1. Childish: Reimagining Parenting Support
In response to the pressing need for accessible help for families, the Childish project seeks to establish a reliable network for parenting support. It aims to fill the gaps in Japan’s parental assistance framework, specifically at times when families feel overwhelmed but may not yet be in crisis. The project advocates for a system where parents can easily reach out for help, addressing concerns that often go unspoken. Childish serves as a platform that connects families with the necessary resources, including expert consultations and existing community services, fostering a much-needed safety net for all parenting households.

2. Taro Jiro Architects: Creating Harmonious Spaces
This project focuses on utilizing local resources to 'tune' spaces and foster connections within communities. Taro Jiro Architects aims to design environments that promote both comfort and social interaction. Integrating traditional materials with cutting-edge technology, the project envisions spaces where individuals can find solace and rejuvenation, facilitating a circulation of local resources and human engagement in urban development.

3. AccessSync: Enhancing Mobility for Individuals with Disabilities
AccessSync leverages digital technology to ease the commuting challenges faced by individuals with disabilities while using public transport. Aimed primarily at wheelchair users and those with visual impairments, this project provides a centralized system for coordinating support from railway companies and staff members. By streamlining the reservation process for travel assistance and offering clear guidance during transit, AccessSync seeks to empower disabled individuals and expand their mobility, contributing to a more inclusive society.

4. Youth Active Mates: Fostering an Active Culture Among Youth
With a focus on combatting sedentary lifestyles among young people, Youth Active Mates is a project that aims to embed movement into daily life without imposing it overtly. Leveraging cultural activities in Shibuya, such as art, dance, and events, the initiative designs experiences that encourage spontaneous physical activity. By promoting a culture where movement is seamlessly integrated into exciting experiences, Youth Active Mates aims to inspire nationwide engagement among youth.

5. WANDO: Creating Spaces for Reflective Coexistence
The WANDO project aspires to create tranquil environments within urban settings, allowing individuals to simply 'be' in these spaces. Utilizing fluid concrete objects, the initiative challenges the traditional rigidness of building materials, introducing variability and fostering genuine relationships between people and their environment. WANDO aims to implement a physical approach to promote gentle coexistence in the urban landscape, redefining the social fabric of our cities.
