Breda University Launches FUEL Project



On October 16, 2025, the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) proudly announces its participation in an ambitious three-year research initiative dedicated to enhancing food choices in professional settings. Coinciding with the observance of World Food Day, this project, in collaboration with the Louis Bolk Institute and Wageningen University & Research (WUR), aims to tackle pressing global challenges related to food health, sustainability, and climate change.

Michel Altan, a prominent professor and researcher at BUas, emphasizes this potential: “Corporate restaurants and hospital catering reach millions daily, yet they often miss the chance to promote healthier and more sustainable choices.” The FUEL project seeks to transform this paradigm.

The innovative research focuses on three strategic pillars: adjustments to menus, smart communication strategies, and motivational techniques designed to facilitate healthier choices. Unlike traditional awareness campaigns, BUas aims to develop evidence-based strategies that directly engage with the target audience.
